Tesco Value Toilet Tissue
by jeanclifford
Every now and again I buy toilet paper from Tesco which is their own make. This is from the Tesco Vale range and it feels cheap and looks cheap but after all, it's just for wiping bottoms and it does a pretty decent job on the whole. Six rolls cost just under £2 and they come in a plain clear plastic pack and are white in colour. I am ... unsure if these rolls come in any other colours but as I prefer my toilet rolls to be white anyway, I cannot say I have gone looking for any other colours.
The rolls are a decent enough size in length and even width ways they are quite wide. They are on the rough side as you'd expect from a value range item from Tescos' but really they are not as rough as I had expected them to be. They are obviously not what I'd call a luxury toilet paper but they are absorbent and as the rolls are quite large in length, they last a long time, especially as there are only two of us in our home anyway.
The only problem with these rolls is that they are extremely difficult to get started. By this, I mean that the rolls are well gummed down when new and it can be very fiddly indeed trying to get the roll off to a good start and I usually end up with a few shredded prices before the roll actually gets underway. The perforations are fine though sometimes too many sheets come off at once so I have to be more careful when tearing off the amount I want to use.
I have also used this toilet paper for removing facial and eye make up and even for blowing my nose whenever I have run out of tissue paper. Obviously, tissue I a lot softer and kinder to the skin and I only use it in place of tissues if I am really desperate.
These are not the most luxurious toilet rolls in the world by any stretch of the imagination, but I still think they are good value for money. After all, it's only a toilet paper for goodness sake. Read the complete review |

Flash All For One Bathroom Spray Cleanfinity
by katyj10
I was cleaning the bathroom earlier when I had a good root about in the back of the cupboard that's built under the sink and came across a third of a bottle left of this Flash Bathroom One for All 'Cleanfinity'. I don't recall buying it and the label looks quite old fashioned so I'll bet it's a few years old! Still, I am sure cleaning ... products don't go 'off' and began using it to clean around the sink and shower.
The claim
The product works for everything you can imagine you want to clean in the bathroom but I used it on sinks and shower and the two windowsills in there. It works on soap scum and water marks with intense freshness (more on just how intense later!) and leaves a brilliant shine.
In use
The product comes packaged in a white plastic bottle with a trigger spray that can be locked. Whilst I usually clean with bleach, I must admit the trigger spray is handy when aiming the product at specific areas like the shower. I found it easy to use but really hated the smell of this product and it made me choke, hitting the back of my throat (and I love strong smelling bleach usually!). It was easy to rinse off and definitely did a good cleaning job but I had to open all the windows to disperse the cloying smell of it.
My thoughts
I think this may account for the reason it was hiding in the back of the cupboard, that I just don't like the smell of this product. I can't fault it for its cleaning properties but just can't work with something that strong that makes me feel ill when I'm using it. I liked the packaging and the trigger spray was powerful even towards the end of the bottle.
Price
Waitrose sell this (with an updated label but the same packaging) for £2 and it's a 500ml bottle which I think is a really good price.
Final word
I am actually quite glad to have finished this now and it's not one I'll be buying again in the future as I just don't like the smell of it. I do like to have a separate cleaner in the bathroom even though I use bleach a few times a week down the toilet and plug holes. Not one I am madly keen on. Read the complete review |

Andrex Gorgeous Comfort Quilts Toilet Tissue
by myloh
I'm going to review Andrex Gorgeous Comfort Quilts toilet tissue.
At the moment of writing they cost £2.25 for a pk of four . The large 9 roll pack costs £5.00 but is on offer at 2 pks for £7.50 until April 9th.
It is 4 ply tissue & each roll contains approx 160 sheets.Each sheet measures 124mms X 104mms.
It declares ... on the pack "Paper from responsible sources" and is white .
Now down to basics . I love this toilet tissue & it never lets me down. Every so often I try a bargain offer from a different brand trying to lure me in,but always end up back at Andrex Comfort Quilts.
Quite simply it is dependable. It is 4 ply & therefore strong and the fact that you use less means it is economically more sensible to buy a good quality brand.
With the others I've tried I find I need to use more because it just doesn't do the job it was designed for, unless doubled & trebled to oblivion.....MOST annoying as well as wasteful. But with this one you avoid that palaver .It also is properly perforated(unlike cheapies) so tearing off is easy & clean. Nor do the plys separate.....that annoying thing that occurs with cheap brands. They are firmly quilted together.
And the other MASSIVE plus is that it is kind to my bottom & (ahem) anywhere else it is used..
With toilet tissue you truly get what you pay for,no doubt about it.And buying cheap is a false economy.
As I said at the start, it is on offer in Tesco at 2 x 9 Roll Pks for £7.50 till April 9th, and I'll be taking advantage of that offer for the next few shops to stock up because, unlike some of these offers, it is a good saving on a really good quality product .And my bottom deserves the best.
