Air Wick Aqua Mist Freesia and Jasmine Spray
by MsTricia
I am always on the hunt for nice things to make my home smell nice. I found this bottle of Air Mist in Pound Stretcher when shopping a few weeks ago for £1 so was eager to take it home to try.
It comes in a clear bottle which is rather large - containing 345ml of mist. The bottle is not the most attractive, as it rather ... resembles a hair spray or the nozzle of a cleaning product! It stays hidden in the cleaning cupboard most of the time though so this isn't too much of a distraction and I will still happy enough to purchase it. The label describes it as "propellant-free trigger" which delivers Air Wick's Aqua Essences more naturally. Being a mist, as opposed to an air freshener I find it a bit more refreshing when sprayed and it seems to spread across the room more easily with less sprays and it settles to give a longer lasting aroma around the home.
It comes in Aqua Mist Freesia and Jasmine Spray and also Wild Lavender & Mountain Breeze and I bought both. I find this one - Aqua Mist Freesia and Jasmine much nicer as the Lavender variety is far too strong! The scent is really light and subtle but to to be honest it is quite hard to pinpoint a specific smell! The smell of Jasmine is barely noticeable and freesia is not a flower I am too familiar with but it is quite sweet and light.
The air mist is suitable for use on fabrics like sofas and linen which makes it handy around the home. It is described on the pack as odour elimination and personally I have found that when sprayed in the bathroom after my little one or other half has let a stinky one go, it really is amazing at getting rid of these smells pretty instantly! The scent lasts for ages and so makes this product fab value for money.
I have had this spray for a while now and a little goes a really long way so it has actually barely gone down! I find a few sprays into the centre of the room is perfect for a little uplifting, clean smell around the home and I don't need to use it again.
Overall I really like this product and wish I had found it before! I would definitely recommend it, as it does a good job and has worked much better than a lot of other air fresheners I have had in the past. 4 stars from me! Read the complete review |

The Body Shop Passion Fruit Home Fragrance Oil
by ladyradley
I love The Body Shop and I love fruity smells. My daughter introduced me to some oils a few years ago and now I like to use them regularly.
I bought some from The Body Shop. The flavours I bought included cranberry and this passion fruit one. I find them to be absolutely lovely.
I tend to use oils to make my house ... smell nice. There are different ways in which you can use them. I have a little oil burner which I sometimes use. This consists of a little tea light that sits underneath a ceramic bowl which holds the oil. I mix water and oil into the little bowl and the heart of the candle gradually warms it up which makes the smell mix in the air. I also sometimes use it in other ways too- I put little bits behind the radiator so that when the heating comes on the scent spreads into the room! I have also put some in a pan of boiling water when I wanted to quickly make the house smell nice before we had people look round!
These oils are lovely. The bottle is only small but it lasts a long, long time. It comes out of a tiny little hole at the top so you only get a drop at a time, you have to shake it quite hard so there is no danger of you using too much.
The smell is of lovely passion fruit, it's a very fresh and fruity smell but isn't sickly. It will depend upon how much you use as to how strong it is, I find a couple of drops is enough to make it perfectly fine.
I really rate these and now wonder what I used to do before. It makes my house smell lovely in a very natural way rather than spraying aerosol and things. Read the complete review |

Yankee Candle Christmas Cookie
by Elaineee
I was in LLandudno and called in a gift shop whilst I was there because I'd noticed Yankee Candles in their window on sale. The Yankee Christmas fragrances were all on sale at half price, the retail was around £1.20 but these were only 60p each so got a few different ones to try.
Yankee candle tarts are little fluted disks of ... wax that are melted in the dish of a burner as they have no wick. The wax tartlet is white and I could smell a vanilla scent through the wrapper, the wrapper isn't the easiest thing to open so I cut the whole tart in half using scissors then removed the wrapper off only one of the halves, so I could use the other half at a later date.
I chose to melt the Cranberry Ice first and am now onto Christmas Cookie. I placed the tart in an oil burner dish and lit a tea light underneath. After 10 mins or so the tart melted down to form a pool of clear yellowish liquid. It doesn't take long for the scent to develop and waft around the downstairs. I find this a medium strength fragrance, which does cover smells and freshens the place up.
Yankee Christmas Cookie doesn't smell like cookies really, nor is it festive. It has a white chocolate and vanilla ice cream scent about it, it's sweet but it has a sort of bathroom cleaner undertone- I do like it though. I find it pleasant and can leave it lit without needing a break from it. Once the tea light is out the Cookie Candle scent lingers faintly for a bit but not like an air freshener.
Having read reviews that suggest cutting the tart in half to get more use/fragrance out of it than the estimated 8 hour burning time, I did so and was surprised that with the Cranberry Ice tart this was the case, although after approx 10 hours of burning time it had hardly any scent left on it but loads of wax left in the dish which had to be then removed. The Christmas Cookie wax doesn't seem to have lasted longer, the tart has actually evaporated away leaving no residue behind after a lot less time. I did notice when I cut it it was easier to get through than the Cranberry Ice tart, and felt creamier so maybe not as dense.
Would I recommend?
Yes and no- yes because this candle smells nice and no because I've found it not to last very long, infact the half has already gone after a couple of hours. I am surprised at this though because other reviewers have had longevity with theirs so maybe I'll use the same oil burner that I used for the Cranberry Ice tart and see if it's shape makes a difference.
I'll give it 3 stars because although the scent's nice, the wax tart itself hasn't been long lasting- for me anyway.
* I put the second half into my more shallow dished oil burner (which I used with the Cranberry Ice tart) 5 hours ago and the Cookie wax is still burning away happily. There is still a fair amount of melted wax left but the scent is now starting to fade- it still hasn't lasted as long as Cranberry Ice did though. So I can conclude that the deep, narrow oil burner which I previously used mustn't be suitable- although I'm not sure why- maybe the wax tart burnt too hot making it evaporate quickly*
*I am now going to up the stars to 4* Read the complete review |
