Husky HUS-KN79 Stella Artois Drinks Chiller / Refrigerator
by mariegill
We was given this fridge by a family member who didn't have the space for it due to moving house. I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth so i accepted, we needed more fridgespace with christmas coming up so i was very pleased to receive this.
If im honest it doesnt really get that cold, its not a bad little fridge but ... i wouldnt want to drink a drink from it- as they just dont get cold enough. If it was to be stacked as the display photo, they would deffinately not go that cold!
We use it for things like fruit and veg, aswell as eggs etc. I wont lie it has proved invaluable to us, however i just wouldnt like to drik a beer from it! I'm the type of person that likes my beer to be ice cold, warm beer just puts me off drinkng and the last thing you want on a warm day is a warm beer.
Overall i would say this is great if you dont intend to use it for drinks and as a second fridge. If you really want a decent beer fridge pay the extra £20 or so and buy a decent little larder fridge! Read the complete review |

Husky HUS-KN79 Stella Artois Drinks Chiller / Refrigerator

I wanted a little fridge for when I had barbecue's in the summer months. The kitchen fridge never has enough room for a few beers and I thought I could just turn this on and have it in the back garden when I needed it. One of the main reasons I bought it is because it is a real fridge rather than a thermo-electric chiller which take ... forever to cool drinks. I had one of the really tiny ones that you can literally fit about 3 small cans into and they take an age to cool anything, their capacity is pathetic and they are very very noisy.
The Husky cools things in exactly the same way as a normal kitchen fridge, only this is smaller. Also, the door closes on its own. You might not think that is anything to write about, but it makes sure you dont accidently leave the door open on a hot summers day, not that we get many of those in England! What i find is that I can fit a few cases of beer into it and that can last all day without having to restock it. The only problems I found were the expense and the shelf arrangement. It can be hard to store a mixture of bottles and cans, more notches to put the shelf on more of a variety of heights would help.
You can pick up full kitchen fridges for similar money, but this one is easy to move about and when im not using it I can just put it out of the way. All I need now are some hot summers weekends to put it to more regular use! Read the complete review |

Husky HUS-KN79 Stella Artois Drinks Chiller / Refrigerator

I have had one of these for around 2 years, and primarily use it as a second fridge for storing the cans in. It is also ideal for taking camping, as it is relatively small and lightweight.
The usual selling price of these units is around the £100 mark, although I paid £69 in a special offer at Asda.
The first thing ... I will say about this unit is that it is not comparable to a normal fridge in that it does not keep things as cool, particularly in the warmer summer months. I would call it a chiller as opposed to a fridge.
The most obvious feature of the Husky is it's appearance; most of the ones you see on sale have the Stella Artios Livery, as in the picture. You can get them in other brands livery, such as Budweiser, although these are less widely available and will cost you more as a result. With it's grey finish and clear glass door it is a good looking item which does not stand out too much in most people's homes.
One poor feature of the design is that there are no vents on either the sides or top of the unit, meaning hot air cannot escape and causes the sides and top to get quite hot. I would have thought this also contributes to the unit's inability to reach particularly cold temperatures.
Inside the fridge there are 2 metal shelves for storing your tins on. There is also an optional light with on/off switch and a dial for controlling the temperature setting.
As I have said, we often use ours for camping. In this instance the Husky is very handy as it is relatively small and light, and is also very quiet.
Overall, this is ideal as a second chiller, but just don't expect to be able to use it as your main fridge! Read the complete review |
