Tesco Value Straws
by ladyradley
I bought this packet of straws to keep at home for when my grandchildren are here. The grandchildren love them, they think drinking from straws makes the drink more special. The straws aren't very good quality though but they don't seem to notice this.
In the packet you get 50 straws and they are white with different coloured ... stripes down them. At the top end you can bend the straw to make it easier to drink from. They are a standard length so they will reach down into most cups.
My grandchildren love using these, they think a drink is more exciting if they have a straw to drink it with.
The straws are quite thin and so they can easily be broken. Many times my grandchildren have nibbled on the straws whilst drinking and it's caused little cuts in the plastic which is really sharp and has hurt their tongues before. I am always very careful to throw them away once little splits appear. Sometimes splits can appear part way down the straw where they haven't even touched it and very often a hole will appear on the bend where it is thinner and more fragile. This then makes it difficult to drink with.
I think they are really too thin as they break easily but they are fine to use as a one off, they don't tend to survive more than one day. Sometimes we do wash them out and reuse them but more often than not they get thrown away after being used due to little holes appearing and my grandchildren liking to nibble on them!
All in all these are okay, not amazing but children seem to love them so I'm giving them 3 stars Read the complete review |

Tesco Value Household Rubber Gloves
by Seven17
These rubber gloves are great for washing up or as i use them, for protection from chemicals like white spirit or engine oil. These are very well made and don't leak or let large pockets of air in through gaps.
They are quite tough and rugged but aren't built to take stabbings for example. You can rip them by catching them on ... sharp objects but generally just running a knife over them gently doesn't cause any serious damage. I haven't tried cutting my finger off with a knife while wearing these, so i can't comment on their finger protection...
The gloves are thick and the outer layer of rubber is just about the right depth. They're not too deep to make your fingers fat but they're not thin enough to rip easy. They protect my hands well and I have never had any problems with the material.
The packaging is a small plastic bag which cannot be recycled and must be thrown away. The gloves cannot be recycled either but I've had my current pair for weeks now and they haven't been destroyed so the will last you before you need to bin them anyway.
The gloves don't fit my hands that snuggly, they don't cling to my fingers and i'm average build and my fingers aren't disproportionately fat. My fingers don't reach the end unless i push hard into them. The fingers are slightly smaller at the tips but unless you have really large fingers this won't be a problem for you.
It's not a chore when putting the gloves on, they're easy to slip your hands into and around the wrists it doesn't feel to tight. I don't feel any rough chafing or rubbing on the tops of my hands so this must mean they're the right size. Equally though, the gloves don't just slip off.
The edge of the hands is a little baggy but this is not enough for them to drop off. At least they're not skin tight because that gets annoying really quickly when moving your hand back and forth all the time.
Overall these are a great pair of gloves, great value for money too because they last. Whilst they probably will end up in landfill eventually, they will at least get a lot of work done before then and won't end up in pieces when you first use them. I highly recommend these. Tesco Everyday Value Dishcloths
by emmad5689
I tend to go through a fair amount of dishcloths as I constantly wash down in the kitchen and bathroom, I have a number of pets and so end up with paw prints over benches and mud up the doors and after I have used them a couple of times I like to put them in the bin as you never know what animals are carrying especially cats. ...
Because I go through so many dishcloths I don't see the point in buying expensive brands, one of the best I have found in the cheap ranges is the Tesco Value ones which is now called Tesco Everyday Value which cost 75p for 5 clothes making then a whole 15p each.
The packaging is very simple being only a plastic wrapper with the Tesco logo and the Tesco Everyday Value logo on them and that is pretty much it, to get to the dishcloths you simply cut or tear the packet. The packaging could be a little better in my opinions it would be better to have them packaged in a resealable packet so that they can be resealed until they are needed keeping them clean and dry.
The dishcloths are white in colour and slightly rectangular but not by much, the dishcloths feel relatively soft so are not going to cause any damage to delicate crockery. The dishcloths are pretty thin but they do the job just aswell as thicker cloths and sometimes I think they are better being thin as it means you can twist the corner of the cloth and get them into small areas such as lids of sports bottles. The clothes soak up water well so you can use them for kitchen spillages too.
I wash the dishcloths a couple of times before I put them in the bin and generally due to hygiene I out them in on 60 degrees with my towels and they go through the wash perfectly which did surprise me the first time I did it as I had expected they may actually fall apart.
These are fantastic value and are a brand I will stay with, the branded cloths you can buy may last longer than these but then you pay a good bit more for them so I think these are probably better and they do the job brilliantly. Read the complete review |
