Tesco Everyday Value Dishcloths
by rji0907
When it comes to miscellaneous cleaning items such as sponges, cloths and dusters, I tend to purchase whatever is cheapest at the time. One item I always keep in is a pack of dish cloths as I think they are quite versatile and can be used for general cleaning as well as for washing up. I won't pay a fortune for such an item though so I ... always purchase the Tesco Value Dish Cloths.
For the price of 75p, you get 5 cloths in a pack, though at present you can get 2 packs for the price of £1.00 which makes them even better value for money.
The cloths are white, square and quite thick. They are thicker than I would have expected them to be and hold together pretty well. I tend to use them to clean over the kitchen work surfaces as well as in the washing up bowl and they are pretty good.
They have a slightly harsh feel to them but they have never damaged any of my surfaces or appliances when I have cleaned them down with these dish cloths.
For the price, I often just dispose of them when I am done with them as they are the kind of product that will soon have germs lingering on them so it is best to dispose of them after they have had decent usage. If you wish to save a bit of money though, you can wash them in the washing machine. I have done this previously with these dish cloths and I have never had a problem with them. The only thing with washing them is that they do end up slightly distorted shape-wise after washing but they do hold together well and are perfectly usable again after washing, though for the price you pay, I think it is less hassle to just dispose of them & buy a new pack.
The dish cloths come in a clear, cellophane packet and can be found down the cleaning aisle of Tesco's stores. Obviously with these being from the Tesco Value range, they are exclusive to Tesco's stores.
Overall, these are pretty decent dish cloths for the price and they do a good job so I don't personally feel the need to spend money on a better brand of dish cloths when these Value ones do the job just as well. They are cheap, quite thick and don't fall apart easily and therefore they come with a recommendation from me. Read the complete review |

Tesco Everyday Value Dishcloths
by kat1234
I regularly replenish my stock of dish cloths as, although I was them regularly, I can't abide the thought of them harbouring germs. They also become very tatty even after a few washes so they don't last well anyway. Therefore, I prefer to get them for as cheap as possible as I repurchase them so frequently. Most recently, I picked up ... a packet of 5 Everyday Value Dishcloths from Tesco for 75p.
The cloths were, indeed, basic. I could tell that just by looking through the plastic film in which they were sealed. They are the thinner sort of dishcloths that are 'doubled up' and made of a thin mesh like cotton. I personally prefer the slightly thicker cloths that are just one layer and more 'knitted' in appearance (that's the best I can describe them, sorry it's not the best description!!). However, for 75p I was more than willing to give these a try.
The cloths were a decent size and pretty square in shape - I would say the average size of a dishcloth. They were absorbent when used to wipe up spillages and held together well when wet and pressure applied. I wash my dishcloths after a days use (I find they start to look grubby and any stale water they hold can start to smell, plus I am a little paranoid about the bacteria they must contain) and usually use a hot wash (60 degrees) but at the minimum 40 degrees. After washing, I found that the dishcloths had changed shape somewhat - they were noticeably smaller and the two layers no longer matched neatly to give a square shape. Nevertheless, they were still perfectly usable.
I would say that a pack of these probably lasted me 2-3 weeks. They washed well initially but after a few washes they did start to look like they had seen better days. I find more robust cloths can last me longer than this without any necessary need to change them (other than my own preference). I would rather spend a few extra pennies on a better quality packet of cloths that will maintain their shape better and last a little longer. Read the complete review |

Tesco Value Toilet Tissue
by jeanclifford
Every now and again I buy toilet paper from Tesco which is their own make. This is from the Tesco Vale range and it feels cheap and looks cheap but after all, it's just for wiping bottoms and it does a pretty decent job on the whole. Six rolls cost just under £2 and they come in a plain clear plastic pack and are white in colour. I am ... unsure if these rolls come in any other colours but as I prefer my toilet rolls to be white anyway, I cannot say I have gone looking for any other colours.
The rolls are a decent enough size in length and even width ways they are quite wide. They are on the rough side as you'd expect from a value range item from Tescos' but really they are not as rough as I had expected them to be. They are obviously not what I'd call a luxury toilet paper but they are absorbent and as the rolls are quite large in length, they last a long time, especially as there are only two of us in our home anyway.
The only problem with these rolls is that they are extremely difficult to get started. By this, I mean that the rolls are well gummed down when new and it can be very fiddly indeed trying to get the roll off to a good start and I usually end up with a few shredded prices before the roll actually gets underway. The perforations are fine though sometimes too many sheets come off at once so I have to be more careful when tearing off the amount I want to use.
I have also used this toilet paper for removing facial and eye make up and even for blowing my nose whenever I have run out of tissue paper. Obviously, tissue I a lot softer and kinder to the skin and I only use it in place of tissues if I am really desperate.
These are not the most luxurious toilet rolls in the world by any stretch of the imagination, but I still think they are good value for money. After all, it's only a toilet paper for goodness sake. Read the complete review |
