Advantages: Doesn't take up room, folds down well

Disadvantages: None

As the winter gets a grip, the washing seems to pile up and since we try to keep our usage of the tumble dryer for towels and sheets mainly, it is necessary to keep some sort of airer in the house, when the weather makes it impossible to get clothes dried outside. Since we were married, we have had a good size airer which has been of ample size to dry our washing indoors, however since we now have a baby, who also uses reusable nappies, room to dry clothes (and nappies) has become quite an issue.

On a recent visit to Dunelm mill, I saw this Addis over the bath airer, costing £8.99 and thought, since I didn't really have the space for another free standing airer, this would help dry my washing without taking up needed room.

This over the bath airer has been designed to be suitable for any bath shape and comes with a 3 year guarantee from the manufacturer, which is always reassuring! According to the manufacturers this airer provides a 10 metre drying area. The other advantage, again for anyone with limited space, is that when it is not in use, it can be folded in half and therefore be stored away quite easily and tidily.

This airer comes with pointed feet at the bottom which balance it steadily on the edges of your bath. My bath is actually a funny shape on the inside, and so I was concerned that it would do as it claimed and 'fit any bath' but I have to say that it does, and it feels pretty secure on it, although I'm sure if I gave it a good push, it would move, but it isn't unsteady when I put clothes onto it.

I predominantly use this airer for drying my daughter's clothes or reusable nappies, and find that I can easily get the clothes etc onto the racks even though it is over the bath, and in fact I think more air gets around the clothes than on my main freestanding airer, as there is more air can get in under the clothes or nappies to help dry them. Obviously because it sits on the edges of the bath, it is harder to hang things on the bottom racks, therefore making them redundant, but there is still a good amount of room on this airer to get the extra washing that I now have dry, which is what I wanted it for.

All in all, if you have limited room and need something that stores away easily but can be brought up to dry your clothes without taking up room, then this Addis over the bath airer is a good buy, especially at £8.99. Most days now I have something on it, and within a day or two the clothes are dry, and it hasn't got in my way once!

Summary: A good way of drying clothes without taking up space in the house
