Addis Over Bath Airer
Advantages: Easy to use, folds down almost flat, sturdy, lightweight, reasonable price.
We moved in to a very energy efficient home two years ago and resolved to try our best to use high grade appliances and do what we could to keep our gas, electricity and water bills low. So far this has worked very well for us and one such way that we keep costs down is by not having a tumble dryer. As we live off the ground floor it is not very practical to have washing on our balcony as I always find myself worrying about it blowing away and potentially landing on a car in the car park or even going in to another property. It is because of this that we have two airers, an over the bath drying system and a heater within our airing cupboard to help dry clothes. We tend to stick to using the two airers and only use either the heater or the over the bath washing line when we absolutely need to (i.e something is needed desperately and we need to get it dry fast).
One of the airers that we use is a large 3 tier fold out one and the other is this over the bath airer. When using them both together I am able to put them both in the bathroom, where we have an extraction fan, and keep them out of the way while the washing is drying. I was lucky enough to pick this airer up for just £8.00 in a sale when a local home ware store was closing down and this is better than the almost £15.00 price tag that I can see on most websites that stock this.
The concept of this bath is a very simple one, just place it over your bath and hang your clothes on it. This fold out airer has angled feet that allow it to balance comfortably over my bath tub and this seems to have been well designed to sit over numerous bath tub shapes with my slightly wide bath not being a problem at all for this airer. Even when I have filled this airer with clothes it still feels secure and I'm yet to have a problem with it folding back up and dumping my clothes in to my bath tub. This has a 10 metre drying area and I usually put all our socks and underwear from a week or so on this airer and find that everything fits just about. On the occasion I have needed to hang larger items, tea towels, t-shirts, shorts etc, I have been able to do so with no problems at all with a t-shirt usually taking up almost a whole line on the airer, although that depends on how large your t-shirts are of course! The very bottom line is useless of course as it is against the bath but its not really a problem as I've learnt roughly what fits on this so I can just take my washing basket in to the bathroom and load my airers up.
Once the clothes on the airer have dried it is simple to fold this airer in half and fit in either one of my large hall cupboards or simply tuck it down the side of my fridge freezer in my kitchen along with the larger airer that I use. This airer offers me a fantastic solution to finding space for drying and I could comfortably fit another one or maybe even two more over my bath tub if I wanted to and with it weighing just under 1.5kg it is very simple for me to fold up and pack away, even if I'm tired from a long day at work and then a long evening of housework.
I would definitely recommend this airer and I am rating it 5/5. It is simple to put up, simple to load, the bars are strong and I've never had it fold up or fall over with clothes on it so that is a huge positive in my eyes. I was very happy with the price that I paid and would firmly recommend this, even nearer to the £15.00 mark that I have recently seen it advertised for (amazon.co.uk among others).
If you are still cautious about buying this airer then do be informed that it comes complete with a 3 year manufacturers warranty which should give you piece of mind and reassurance.
Summary: A fantastic airer from Addis.
