Any house is going to have a few smells every so often - In my home, its a combination of smoking, pet smells, and cooking smells . I do like my house to smell nice, and do try to cover up the smells or get rid of them as much as I can .

For most rooms, I use a spray air freshener - but I don't like to do that in the kitchen, because Idon't want the air freshener getting onto any food, onto clean dishes, or into the kettle . So, I use solid air fresheners, and the one I use most is Airwick Crystal Air, a circle of glass with attractive designs on them which are filled with perfumed gel . These are quite attractive looking, and can be stood up easily . They look very smart, and I certainly don't worry about having them on my kitchen windowsills .

There are a wide variety of scents, the one I am currently using is Vanilla, which I believe is one of their festive scents, and comes in the shape of an attractive sharp pointed star inside the glass circle, in a creamy colour .

When I first opened it, the smell was pretty strong - and especially on warmer days when it caught the sun, that smell would become stronger . However, after a few days, I actually got used to the smell and stopped noticing it as much, although all the normal kitchen smells were not noticeable either, so clearly it's been working .

The packet claims these will last for four weeks, and depending on where I place them, this is fairly accurate , although I have noticed that when I place these on a sunny windowsill, they do dry a little faster . It feels a shame to throw away the pretty glass afterwards, so I've taken to washing them out, and letting my daughter use them as playdough moulds, and even occasionally using them as extra coasters .

I think these are a little expensive at £.2.20 each, but they do the job well without having to spray nasty chemicals around where I prepare food, and I feel happy in using these in my kitchen .

4 stars!
