Advantages: Price, range of fragrances, appearance, longevity

Disadvantages: No control on intensity of fragrance - can be a little strong

This is one of my firm favourite Air Fresheners. You can pick these up relatively cheap I believe the RRP is about £2.50 - £3. If you shop around, Wilkinson's, Home Bargains, etc tend to have them on offer regularly and last week I managed to pick up my favourite fragrance for only 99p! I like the Mulled Wine and Spice Apple fragrance, it is really festive and really welcoming when you come in from work. The Lavender and Gardenia is also nice, but it could be overpowering if you don't like lavender.

The Crystal Air is a small round glass circle, slightly flattened on one edge to allow you to stand it up. You can also use sticky fixers to fix it to the wall. The glass has a design of ripples / waves and in the indented part of the pattern is the perfumed gel of the freshener. I also buy this fragrance because the gel is red, which matches the hall, stairs and landing; as it does look rather nice and attractive - almost like a little glass ornament. I place one on the shoe rack as you come in the front door and one on the landing too. It fills the house with scent, covering pet odours (my Mum has 2 little dogs) and covering cooking smells. I tend to have different air fresheners for different rooms but I really love to open the front door, kick off my shoes and hang my coat up to this smell, it is a wonderful fragrance.

I would estimate the Crystal Air lasts a good 2 months, they only claim to last 4, so anything over this is a bonus. It does fade with time, and you will notice the gel 'shrivelling' up as the weeks go by because that's where the fragrance is released from. However, for the length of time it lasts coupled with the price, I would challenge anyone to find a better value product that lasts longer and produces the fragrance that Air Wick have achieved with this.

Another benefit is if you have Asthma or pets, or allergies, or young children. As you do not spray the product it doesn't irritate like sprays can, meaning little wanderers will be safe, plus, it is safer than burning candles. I find it particularly effective as I have Asthma. You must ensure you put the product out of the reach of children as the gel is not in a sealed unit. Another tip is to keep it upright, as if you lie it flat it will gather dust which will stick to the gel and make it look unsightly!

Another good tip is to pop one in the airing cupboard. Your towels will smell amazing and the warmth from the cupboard will distribute the smell gently if you don't like the strength of the product in the first few weeks when it is quite heady.

Summary: Excellent value home fragrance option
