“ Brand: Air Wick / Type: Scented Candle / Category: Home Fragrance „
I bought this candle on offer in the supermarket (Asda I think) for around £2.50. I am a big lover of scented candles and loved the smell of this one on the shelf. I didn't actually purchase this around christmas, although I do agree that it is a 'christmas' type candle, as it has a very warming, spicy smell to it. The candle comes in a glass, square pot, and is easy to light (It is usually better to use the gas lighters, however, as normal cigarette lighters are a little too small, and you're more at risk of burning yourself). From the outside, the candle also looks very nice, it is cream and orange/brown striped, which fit in perfectly with my cream coloured room. When lit, the candle gives off quite a lot of light, and the smell quickly spreads. The candle does smell very nice, just like freshly cooked gingerbread, with a slight hint of vanilla (even though through the pot, the candle looks to be made up of more vanilla). When blown out, the candle sets again within minutes, and does not leave a black, soot like stain on the top, like some do. Overall, I am satisfied with the candle, in all aspects. The smell is very warming and has been commented on by many of my family and friends. I am eager to try out the rest of the 'Touch of luxury range' and would purchase this candle again.
I am a real sucker for scented candles, and delicious sounding and smelling air fresheners, but if there is any sort of food involved I have to have it, hence how I ended up with this particular candle....well, that and Asda obviously trying to get rid of what they viewed as a seasonal candle scent!
This candle comes (like the others available in the range), in it's own smart looking square jar, with there only being a small cardboard sleeve for the information, allowing you access to the candle within, in all it's spicy ginger breaded goodness....as you may have gathered it may well be love!
On the sleeve it describes the scent as being blends of "....citrus and ginger with warm spicy cinnamon and clove, all rounded off with creamy edible notes of vanilla...", ok at this point I am actually salivating and not sure whether to light it or lick it!
Unlike the Glade candles I have had in the past this is more like a two layered candle, with the candle being layers of scented wax and essential oils, giving the candle a stripped look, and giving you bursts of differing scents when burning down through these levels.
Before lighting the scent of ginger and cloves is extremely strong, with me worrying that it would be to much for my husband as he is not a fan of ginger, though he soon set me straight by saying he had no problems smelling it, as long as he didn't have to eat it!
Once lit the scent gets no stronger, just warmer if that makes sense, and seemed to waft gently filling the room with what I would deem a really homely, comforting Christmassy scent, I think this is probably the cloves, but it was still really delicious!
I was actually surprised that this didn't become overpowering, especially as my front room (which is the only place I burn my scented candles) isn't that big, though it does state on the packaging that this isn't suitable for the "perfume sensitive", and as it contains cinnamon and eugenol may cause an allergic reaction, though we had no problems with this product at all.
There is a "30 hours burn time", symbol on the box, though couldn't possibly give an accurate time of my own as this was lit for hours at a time, and I have to be honest I didn't take much notice, needless to say it lasted all over Christmas, keeping the spirit alive!
There is a list of does and don'ts on the cardboard sleeve, which in fairness are mostly common sense, though the trimming of the wick to reduce the wick smoking and not allowing to burn down less than 1cm of the dish was new to me.
Price wise I was lucky to get this for £1.50 (two days before Christmas!), but this has since gone back up to nearly £6.00, which is well and truly out of my price range, even for a scent that I have loved (I have still got a small amount left in the jar and cannot bring myself to throw it away!), so will wait for this to come back on offer again!

This is a really lovely candle that has lasted us for ages, smells beautiful and keeps Christmas alive all year long! Recommended!
Thanks for reading x
You can't beat a good scented candle in my opinion and Airwick are normally great at providing a good quality scented candle which lasts. My usual candle scent of choice is spiced aple and cinamon ones but I thought I would give this gingerbread and warm vanilla one ago as it was on offer in the supermarket for £2.50 and it reminded me of Christmas.
This candle is slightly different in apperance to my usual variety of Airwick Candle I choose as it has a layered effect to it as you can see in the picture a layer of gingerbread and a layer of vanilla it smelt unlit really sweet but there seemed to be an equal mix of gingerbread to the vanilla. Getting it home I fond that the candle was easy to light with a match and it wasn't long before I could smell the fragrance being released as I sat in the room. I found that the smell was not to sickly or overpowering and was actually quite relaxing. The time you actually notice the fragrance more though is when you leave the room and return this is when the smell really hits you. I found that it was a nice homely smell and smlt similar to the how the candle smelt to start with which is great as sometimes you buy candles only to find that when you light them there is no fragrance to them. I also find that the fragrance from this candle lingers for a day or so after it has been lit which is also great aslong as you like the fragrance of course which I do.
5 stars for this candle from me.
Airwick ribbon scent touch of luxury scented candle - Spiced Ginger and Warming Vanilla
Recently I have joined yet another site that was offering a freebie of an Airwick 'Mulled wine and Crackling Fire' candle which ,as you know if you read my previous review, I loved so when I was offered a voucher for another fragrance at half price I thought I would try the 'Spiced Ginger and Warming vanilla' fragrance for a change.
I just had to print off the voucher and then hand it in at the checkout when paying for my shopping from my usual shop which in my case was Tesco. And so this cost me £3 instead of £6 although I have read that they are cheaper in other shops but as yet I have not seen any myself.
The candle comes in a lovely, very heavy square glass jar with a cardboard outer sleeve. The sleeve doesn't cover the candle entirely so you can sniff the candle prior to buying which I always like to do. The 'flavour' I chose after sniffing the different options was 'Spiced Ginger and Warming vanilla which I thought would go well as a smell over the festive period and smelled warm, friendly and welcoming for our visitors.
Once you remove the outer cardboard sleeve you have a very classy looking square jar with a cream coloured candle which has brownish waves running through it. It really does look a cut above the average scented candle that you can buy in the supermarkets and fits well with their claim that it provides a 'Touch of Luxury' but I read on the outer sleeve that this candle is surprisingly made in China.
The outer sleeve has instructions in four languages. The English version is at the top so saves you struggling through several to find the right language. It warns that the glass will get hot when the candle is burning and remain hot for some time afterwards. Do not use if the glass is damaged at all. If swallowed then seek medical advice and show them the cardboard sleeve (provided you have kept it in case of this emergency).
The scent is a softer subtle blend of citrus and ginger with cinnamon and cloves as well as vanilla. The cinnamon and cloves is very evident and the sweetness of the vanilla gives it a warm comforting aroma in our room. The smell produced by the candle is not as strong as the 'Mulled Wine and crackling Fire' but it is a smell that is comforting and cosy, like that of cooking sweets and baking cakes.
The candle is supposed to have a burn time of 30 hours and I have had it burning quite some time each day for at least two week but I haven't actually timed it accurately. I leave it burning for an hour or so at a time but sometimes do forget it and leave it longer if I am busy so I can't be sure of the precise times.
As the candle burns the loveliest war, cosy vanilla, cinnamon and clove scent fills the room. It is really very welcoming and comforting and makes me feel quite cosy and warm while it is burning and for quite some time afterwards. We have had a number of visitors calling round and they have all commented on the lovely festive smell in our house. It smells like I have been making fudge and baking cakes I would definitely recommend buying one of these and burning it over this next few winter months as it really does make you feel snugly and warm so great for these really cold days we have been experiencing too.
So if you are looking for a reasonably priced candle that is easy to find in a supermarket that looks very classy and smells wonderful then this is it. It should have cost £6 and I think at that price you do get your money's worth. With my new half price voucher it is great value however the original freebie it was wonderful.
The only annoying thing I find is that the candle burns out leaving a lot of the scented wax behing up the sides. This means the candle still looks good from the outside but being a meanie I want to use all the wax so I took mine out and put it in a small container with a new wick and burned every last bit - feeling that at last I had my money's worth and the last wax still gave off the scent too. I have also used it like you would a wax tart with the same success.
When the original candle I got was finished I managed to wash out the glass container which I have kept as it will be useful for those small night lights or as a small chunky vase for a hydrangea head or similar. I will do the same with the next ones and as I have three I will end up with the perfect number (according to interior decorators) for making an impact on my window sill with either candles or flowers in them. So not bad for the price if you get a nice classy looking glass vase as well.
