Advantages: they look lovely glowing away
Disadvantages: the price when full price
I absolutely love my candles - my favourites being Yankee Candles - especilly their wax tarts but I will often buy other candles if on offer.
So it was no surprise to me that when I seen this new Airwick candle range in Tesco on offer the other day that I decided to try them out.
Usual price for these colour changing candles is roughly £7, however for the past few weeks they have been £3.50 in Tesco so I bought a couple to try out.
The candle itself comes in a fair sized glass candle holder - which can be reused for tealights etc if you wanted to. It sits neatly within a cardboard packaging which allows you to see the candle inside as well as smell it too, which is always handy to actually see if you like the scent before buying it. I've tried the vanilla one which is lovely, and the sweet pea version which is beautiful but there was a mulled wine candle available which made me heave lol so was a good job I could smell them first.
The front of the packaging clearly states it is an Airwick product and the scent name too. It also says 'Changes Colour Gently' with a picture of a candle with swirly lights around it which looks very appealing.
The back of the packaging informs us that these candles have a burn time of up to 30 hours, sounded impressive. It also tells us that when the candle is lit a soft, tranquil glow illuminates through the wax and the glow gently changes colour to create a captivating rainbow effect. I have to admit it was this colour change I was more excited about.
Upon lighting, the candles the glow sparks up immediately, it remains a tranquil blue colour first and soon begins to flicker in varying colours including pink, yellow, green and purple while simultaneously letting off a very subtle, but pleasing scent too. I only light these candles in the evenings now it's darker and I'd say one candle lasts me roughly one week of evening lighting. It looks beautiful changing colours and glowing away in my living room, they are most definitely mood setters/calmers and provide a very relaxing feeling within my home. The fact the scents are very subtle - on both the vanilla and the sweet pea- means there isn't an overpowering smell taking over my three floor house just a gentle smell lingering here and there. I sometimes vanilla scented products quite sickly but this one is like I've said very gentle, and just a subtly sweet warming scent, whereas the sweet pea is sweet, yet not overly so, with a fruity hint to it. The glowing light appears to come from within the wax and just looks very much like an led light of some sort, no idea how it's made or how it really works but it certainly looks lovely and is very pleasing to watch.
As much as I do love these candles I don't think I could pay the full price of £7 for one as to me that is a bit steep, but when on offer I would definitely buy more of these as they are relaxing and soothing to both watch and smell.
Summary: a lovely smelling and looking candle.
