Advantages: lovely fragrance

Disadvantages: can't refill

I picked up a couple of the Air Wick Reed Diffuser air fresheners whilst shopping in Sainsbury's a few weeks ago. I normally use the reed diffusers where you can refill the oil/liquid, however these Air Wick ones were on offer in Sainsbury's at half price and so I thought that I'd give them a try.

I picked up two of the fragrances; the crisp linen & lilac, and the midnight blackberry & vanilla silk. They also had two other fragrances available; pink sweet pea, and ivory freesia bloom. They were on offer at half price, reduced from £6.99 to £3.49.

I have the crisp linen & lilac fragranced reed dispenser in our bedroom, and this smells lovely. It smells just like freshly washed linen, it's a real clean and fresh fragrance. It's really suited to the bedroom, as it has that just washed bedding smell. I can't say that I can smell the lilac in this specifically, I think that the freshly washed linen fragrance is the dominant fragrance, however it does have a slight floral undertone, so I guess that's the lilac.

The Air Wick Reed Diffuser air fresheners are little glass jars that contain an oily liquid with coloured plasticy balls in the bottom (brilliant description there hey!) You then put the enclosed natural rattan stems in the jar and the rattan stems absorb the liquid and fragrance your room.

Air Wick state that these will last for up to 4 weeks. I would say that this is fairly accurate as it's coming up to 4 weeks now since I bought ours, and I can still smell the fragrance. Granted they are not as strong now as they started off, but I can definitely still smell the fresh linen fragrance. One way to prolong the fragrance is to regularly turn the rattan stems. I turn the rattan stems in mine once a week, and I think that this does make a big difference. I always notice a fresh burst of intense fragrance for a few days when I've just turned the stems.

These are quick and easy to use and set up. Unscrew and remove the cap. Push out the sealing disc from the top of the cap. Screw the cap back onto the bottle. Insert the rattan stems into the bottle making sure you spread out the stems. Done.

You do need to ensure that the glass jar is placed on a stable surface to prevent any accidents i.e. spillage or even worse knocked over completely. And the instructions do advise you not to place them on polished, painted or plastic surfaces. I have mine on the window seat in the bedroom, this is a wooden polished surface, but I think that as long as you're careful and the glass jar doesn't get knocked over then you could really place it on any surface.

I don't think that these look as nice as the larger style reed diffusers that you can refill, however these are generally a lot more expensive, but I like the fact that you can refill these. I think that this is probably my biggest issue with the little Air Wick ones - you can't refill them.

I would pick this up again if I saw them on offer, I certainly wouldn't pay the full price for it though.
