I am always trying to keep costs down and I buy Aldi's Almat clothes washing tablets for white and colour washing.

I live in an area with a soft water supply. I don't know how they would work if you have a hard water supply.

The price is a lot cheaper than leading brands. For normal washing that is not too stained its enough just to throw the washing in and it will clean on 30 degrees without any problems.

If you have very heavily stained clothes then you will need to treat with stain remover or add a vanish type powder. I have to do this with more expensive powders too.

It does not have much of a perfume after it has been washed. It smells lightly of washing powder but for me that is an advantage.
I always use white tablets for light colour clothes as the brighteners give them a fresh look.

The colour tablets (without brighteners) for the darker clothes are good and there is never any bleaching to a dark wash.

Summary: With prices rising we need to find cheaper brands
