Advantages: nice aroma

Disadvantages: chemicals cover other smells

These air fresheners plug into your electrical sockets. You get a white plastic, plug-shaped holder which you push into a socket.

The little bottle of air freshener is said to be made with real perfume.

These plug-ins are about 4 by 1.5 inches in size and they do stick out from the wall.

My wall sockets are about twelve inches off the ground which puts them at perfect shin level. I have managed to catch them a few times, especially when vacuuming.

The fragrance of the perfume is difused as the element heats up. These are very effective and you can adjust the perfume release if you find them too strong.

You can get an anti tobacco aroma which is very pleasant and one that purports to eradicate 'pet smells'. The trouble is that they just cover up smells with other smells which can't be good for any of us. Most other air fresheners do this too.

I paid 5.99 for my last Ambipur which is about average, but I have seen them for as little as 3.99 and as much as 6.99.

Refills are available but I haven't managed to find any that actually save me money on the price of a full unit.

One of these lasts me about 21 days, depending which room it is in and how much air goes through it. They are supposed to last for 30 days.

I have started to switch mine off and only put them on again at times when I might have used an air freshener.

Essential oils mixed with a little water make a much more effective, non chemical, perfumed room spray, and that costs just a few pence per bottle!

Oh yes, the essential oil thing is so much better than these things anyday.
And cheaper!

I tend to agree with you, although I do like the ambi pur which fixes on to the heater outlet of my car.

I love the anti-tobacco one - smells like aftershave - I could sit and sniff it all day - lol
