~ Not the best Andrex toilet tissue!~
I bought a number of packs of Andrex Skin Kind with Aloe Vera toilet tissue a while ago when they were at a greatly reduced price, as I thought they would be as good as the standard Andrex toilet rolls. These particular toilet rolls are meant to be enriched with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E, both of which are promoted as being kind to the skin, hence the 'Skin Kind' branding on the Andrex pack. The packs I bought held 9 toilet rolls each and came in a re-sealable (of sorts) plastic bag with a draw string attached to help seal the bag back up when any remaining rolls were left languishing in the plastic product bag.
When I saw this product in store I must admit it was the attractive sales price that drew me towards making a purchase, rather than the cute Andrex puppy framed by a fresh green back drop on the product bag. Whilst the puppy logo and branding is cute and fun in my opinion, I don't feel a cute puppy on its own is a good enough reason for me to buy these particular toilet rolls again. I thought these toilet rolls would be as thick and soft as the regular Andrex rolls are, but sadly they are most certainly not.
I wouldn't say that these Andrex toilet rolls are as harsh and thin as the almost see through toilet paper of old that was always in public toilets and school wash rooms, however the paper used to make these rolls is most certainly sparingly used in my opinion. The lighter feel of this toilet tissue is not overly skillfully hidden by the use of vertical lines that are embossed along the length of each roll and whilst the paper has a fair degree of absorbency and is relatively dust free when compared to standard Andrex, it feels nowhere near as soft and thick as it ought to be.
The effect of the Aloe Vera and Vitamin E that have somehow been hidden in the toilet tissue is no more than a gimmick in my opinion, as I didn't think the product was any softer or more gentle and enriched feeling than standard Andrex tissue is. In fact I would go as far as to say that this toilet tissue is rougher and less kind to the skin. The tissue used to make each roll would cover an area of 18.39ms and if you did have the time or inclination to want to unroll a brand new roll...... it would carry on rolling for 19.84m according to information given on the product pack. I haven't tested this and have no intention of doing so, so I will just have to say that the figures given would appear true!
There is an average of 160 sheets per roll (again not checked) and the materials used to make this not overly thick tissue are made from a 2 ply weave. I would say that these toilet rolls are very light, not overly soft and tend to get used up more quickly than standard Andrex does and I would rather buy standard Andrex which lasts longer in my opinion, than buy this product again in future. I know that you can make use of the so called 'puppy points' scheme when buying Andrex and the 9 roll pack is worth more than a small sized 4 roll pack in the scheme, however yet again I feel this is of little benefit to most buyers and it certainly wouldn't be enough to tempt me to buy these toilet rolls again, unless they were uber cheap.
In my opinion these toilet rolls do not go on and on and aren't soft, strong and very long, even though that message is part of the Andrex branding! The cost of a 9 roll pack can be much as £5, although there are very often deals and offers on this product, meaning it can be bought for far less. My rating is a fair 3 stars based on everything mentioned in this review. I wouldn't buy the product again unless it was so cheap that I could buy 3 packs for the price of 1 as it just isn't all that great.
Summary: Could have been much better
