Advantages: Thick, soft, strong, absorbent
Disadvantages: Expensive
My parents have always bought cheap supermarket 'value' brands of toilet paper for many years that's all I was used to and all I would have bought myself. But recently I decided to try some of the more expensive brands and have realised that these cheap toilet papers really are a massive false economy! I now always buy a quilted kind, and if I can I buy Andrex Quilts because they're the best I've tried. They do seem expensive at around £2.80 for 4 rolls, but it's so worth it!
This toilet paper is really thick and soft with a quilted pattern and texture, hence the name. Because it is so thick it is much more absorbent than other toilet papers which means that you don't have to use as much. It's also much stronger than other papers and so it doesn't rip or tear easily and you don't end up with your fingers going through the paper when it gets wet.
It feels really soft and so is lovely to use as opposed to others that can be scratchy or rough, this one really does feel nice and soft on my skin. The quilted texture also makes it feel a bit springy and holds it together well. I've used normal Andrex toilet paper before and found it had a really horrible powdery texture and bits of it came away when I used it, but this does not do any of that, it stays together and is not powdery at all.
The fact that this is so absorbent and thicker than other toilet papers really does mean you can use so much less of it. Comparing it to the value ones that my parents use I would sometimes have to use more than 5 or 6 sheets for every one sheet of Andrex Quilts, because they're just so thin and flimsy and don't absorb anything. So while you might think you're saving money by buying cheap toilet paper I actually think it's better to buy a more expensive one and use a lot less. If I buy a 4 pack of these they last me more than 10 times as long as a 4 pack of the value type, and probably twice as long as expensive non-quilted varieties.
Summary: The best toilet paper, it will make you realise cheap brands are a false economy
