Advantages: Soft, Thick, Well Priced, Scented
Disadvantages: Doesnt Flush Properly
I bought this toilet tissue whilst it was on offer in Tesco. Priced at ú4.94 for 9 rolls, this packet offered an additional 3 free rolls in the pack. Depicting the cute Andrex puppy across the top of the brand name, Andrex is household name and has been for years.
This specific product offers a "touch of luxury enriched with Shea butter" and is one of the several varieties of the brand.
The 12 rolls are held together in a plastic packaging which secures them in place.
There isn't much room for movement and the top pulls together to give the buyer a double handle, very useful for hanging on the back of the trolley. The back of the packaging details a "puppy points" offer, on further investigation you collect the points to enjoy something nice on them.
The plastic is not recyclable but the inner of the toilet roll is made of cardboard and can be widely recycled and as always both should be disposed of appropriately as the plastic carries a risk of suffocation if misused.
Andrex make their tissue in the UK (and European Union) and are part of the Kimberley-Clark brand which also make dispenser soap and hand driers often seen in many a public convenience.
Each roll is made from 2 ply tissue with an average of 20meters per roll. Each square/sheet is approximately 125mm x 109mm and the roll is made up of 160 sheets.
Toilet roll lasts a long time in my house as I live alone and normally go to my partners rather than him visiting mine. One roll lasts about one week so I can go almost 3 months without needing to buy more if I buy a bigger pack.
The Andrex Shea Butter toilet paper has a slight scent to it which smells fresh and almost floral but it's not apparent day to day, only if you use it to blow your nose! The difference between this and a plain toilet tissue is obviously the inclusion of Shea Butter with contains vitamins A and E. I find the tissue to be extremely thick in comparison to other products but that it is also slippery to use, I think because it appears to have lines on it, almost patterned which reduces the papers natural grip and allows it to slide. This tissue is very soft on the skin but not so good for the toilet.
My toilet has good water pressure but I find that this paper blows up like a balloon on occasion in the bowl, which means that despite the water pressure it effectively sits on top of the water in the bowl and refused to be flushed until it is drenched.
As this means there is sometimes leftover tissue in the toilet, repeat flushing, albeit wasting water does do the trick.
I have also noticed that if left in water after flushing, rather than re-flushing immediately the creamy colour of this paper taints the water, which then doesn't look that pleasant. So I would recommend re-flushing if you experience this problem.
Overall this is a nice product and at 12 rolls for the price of 9 is a good price. It lasts a long time and is thicker than most alternatives. I probably wouldn't buy it again due to the having to re-flush issue and it may not be as economical if you have someone in the house who uses masses of tissue regardless of its effectiveness.
Summary: Long lasting soft toilet tissue
