Andrex« Shea Butter
Advantages: Lovely quality, soft and strong loo roll!
Disadvantages: At full price expensive
I am not one for buying lavish loo roll for the sake of it; I like value for money as well as quality and tend to buy packs that are on offer rather than a particular brand or quality. Saying that however Andrex is a brand that I like a lot and this Andrex Shea butter pack is one that I will go for the most out of their range.
Andrex is one of the top selling and oldest toilet roll brands in the UK, starting in 1972 and the first 2-ply tissue made. It is probably most renowned for the cute Andrex Labrador retriever puppy used in their advertising campaigns. I had a treasured Andrex puppy teddy as a child that went everywhere with me and I even bought a leather dogs collar for!
The Andrex Shea butter range is a relatively new toilet tissue and part of their 'A Touch of Luxury' series. The packaging is a rich, velvety brown coloured plastic that holds the rolls together, it looks almost like silk. The fronts of the packs have the Andrex branding and puppy dog on along with the enriched with Shea butter description. These are available in packs of 4, 9 and 12 rolls with the 4 packs costing around ú1.98 and the 9 pack ú4.94.
The toilet roll itself is an off white/cream/yellow colour to look at and has a ribbed or striped pattern running down the sheets. The loo roll feels very thick and strong compared to cheaper rolls, including some of Andrex's own normal toilet tissues. This is both a plus and minus in my book, as you generally need to use less of it than you would normally, but at the same time you will end up having less sheets per roll than a thinner toilet roll.
The Shea butter rolls are said to be approximately 12 metres in length and have an average of 160 sheets per roll, which is a lot less than the 241 sheets on the Andrex White Toilet Tissue roll. With this roll you have quality rather than quantity and you can feel it. The toilet tissue is very soft and silky to touch and thus very pleasant to use. It is enriched with the silky softness of Shea Butter which gives it this quality and a hint of a flowery scent which is a pleasant and unique quality in a toilet roll! I tend to use loo rolls rather than packs of tissues to blow my nose I noticed this straight away.
Overall I really like this toilet roll and will buy it if it is on offer in the supermarket, I would not pay over the odds for a luxurious toilet roll, but it is a nice treat!
Summary: A great quality and indulgent toilet roll, if you are that way inclined!
