Advantages: lovely and soft

Disadvantages: runs out very quickly

When it comes to toilet roll I have no brand loyalty and will happily buy whichever of the better brands are on special offer each week. The Andrex with shea butter caught my eye as it was reduced from £2.50 for a 4 roll pack down to £2 making it around the same price as regular Andrex so I decided to give it a go.

Andrex with Shea butter is marketed as a luxury brand for those whose pampered little botties need that extra softness. This is provided by both making the paper thicker and embossing it with silly designs and adding shea butter. The shea butter doesn't make much difference as far as I am concerned, it does leave a very slight scent on the paper but it doesn't moisturise your bum or anything fancy.

The paper is lovely and thick and it feels very luxurious, it is without the thickest toilet paper I have used. It also feels exceptionally soft so no chaffing on delicate areas when you use it. It does the job it is designed to do really well, it is both absorbant and does not tear or rip at all even when wiping with vigour. You probably do need to use fewer sheets of this than other toilet papers but habit will dictate that you use the usual amount.

The problem with this toilet roll is the fact that it is so thick that an average sized roll contains far fewer sheets than normal meaning that it runs out very quickly indeed. What seemed to be a bargain buy is not quite so cheap when you need to buy a new packet of toilet paper in about half of the time than you normally would.

The luxury of the Andrex shea butter toilet rolls is lovely but it is just not worth paying the extra.

Summary: not worth it
