Advantages: lovely and soft, thick and feels luxurious
More often than not I purchase Andrew toilet paper because I don't really care for the thin, rough feeling of many of the store branded or value equivalents. Toilet rolls can generally be found on offer in one of the big supermarkets anyway so there is often a good deal to be had. One of the products that I use quite regularly is the Andrex shea butter toilet rolls and this is my review of the product.
On the shelf the Andrex shea butter toilet roll really does look luxurious. It comes in a deep, chocolatey brown coloured plastic packaging which has the Andrex name as well as the familiar Andrex puppy sleeping on what looks to be a very soft, brown bedding. We are told that this toilet roll is enriched with shea butter and will give us the feel of luxury.
When you open up the packet of the toilet rolls there is a faint smell of shea butter which I believe comes from the inner cardboard tube of the roll. It does smell nice and whilst it isn't overwhelming it is a nice sweet scent which is noticeable when you use the product.
The actual toilet rolls themselves are a cream colour and so I think will fit in nicely with any bathroom decoration which is always nice. I tend to avoid coloured toilet rolls wherever possible so that I can stick to a neutral theme which may sound ridiculous given the use of the product but I do like things to match well in my home. The rolls really are thick and have some grooves going down it which adds to the luxurious look I think.
When I use this product when I go to the toilet I can tell immediately just from the feel that it is a luxurious product. It feels soft and yet strong and so I am secure in the knowledge that it won't rip as I use it because that really would be horrible. I have used cheaper toilet rolls occasionally at home and I have to say I always use more of them because I am always convinced they will rip because they just don't feel as strong or soft.
A pack of nine of these toilet rolls costs ú4.99 presently at Tesco which works out at 35p per 100 sheets. Their promotion currently though is two nine roll packs for ú7.50 which makes it a much more reasonable price. Tesco's value range is much cheaper obviously at 70p for four rolls and just 8p per 100 sheets but there is no way I would ever use a value toilet roll. Yes I realise it is only being flushed down the toilet but I think you will ultimately use more of the value range, you will not find that the value range is soft and also I think it looks much nicer when a guest uses your toilet and you aren't offering them sandpaper to wipe their bottoms with!
Whilst I don't always purchase this particular Andrex product I do have it from time to time at home and I do think it is a luxurious product. If you can purchase it on a deal I think it is well worth trying out as it certainly is one of the best options on the market for me in terms of softness and luxury but the regular price can be a little off putting.
Thank you for reading my review!
Summary: An excellent product but the regular price can be off putting
