Advantages: Brilliant quality...
Disadvantages: More expensive than other brands...
Due to my poor health and mobility problems there are a lot of times where I am unable to do much in the way of running my household. At these times these responsibilities fall on the shoulders of my other half, who not only works very hard to support us financially, but is my carer. The boy deserves a medal at times!
One such household duty that I really do struggle with a lot of the time is shopping. Not only am I housebound at times, but even when I can manage out of the house, I am generally so weak and frail that I can barely lift a bag of shopping. My other half, luckily for me, is a god send at these times and happily picks up anything that we need in our home.
There have been a couple of 'spells' recently where my health hasn't been too great and therefore my partner has stopped off at the shops on his way home from work (armed with his shopping list, which has of course been texted by yours truly!) to collect whatever we need in the house. On a couple of these occasions one such item has been toilet paper/roll.
My personal choice when making such a purchase is that it should offer REASONABLE value for money. That said, I am more than aware that some of the cheaper brands are a waste of time and should be avoided at all costs. For this reason, I tend to look for something that is a little bit 'middle of the road' and generally buy whatever can be found to be a reasonable price for a not-too-bad quality. When shopping in a small store like our small local mini-market however, this is easier said than done!
On these occasions, my partner always makes one choice... Andrex. I would normally 'tut tut' at how much a double pack of toilet roll cost - in this case it is £1.15 for two rolls - but I will admit to feeling a little pleased each time I see that my partner has bought this for our household. I think that this is down to feeling that the Andrex toilet rolls truly offer a brilliant quality product, slightly expensive price tag or not.
We will usually opt to buy supermarket-own loo roll when possible. I am not talking about the "no frills" or "budget" loo rolls, but again, the middle-of-the-road kind of paper that you know won't disintegrate as soon as you rip it off from the rest of the roll.
Whilst this is usually sufficient for our toilet needs (!!!) there is nothing luxurious about using it and it is of course bog-standard (yep, pun intended!).
With the Andrex toilet paper on the other hand, there is very much a feeling of luxury when it comes to using this paper. It is quite evident to me too that the paper itself is of a very "soft and thick" quality given the size of the rolls themselves, when they are removed from the packet.
I also don't find that there are any problems in terms of the 'ply' of the paper and the sheets stay together perfectly when on the roll and once ripped from it. The paper is easy to rip from the rest of the roll too.
When using the paper, again the luxurious quality of the toilet roll is obvious. I won't go into too much detail here, but I do think that the quality of the toilet paper is second to none. I think this is much more obvious to me as we usually buy a much cheaper brand, which is sufficient, but by no means has the touch of luxury like the Andrex paper.
I think there are times when it is obvious that "you get what you pay for" and this is most definitely the case when it comes to the Andrex toilet paper. Yes, I do find it to be expensive, but once in a while I am more than happy to pay a bit extra for that little feel of quality over quantity.
Andrex toilet paper is readily available from all good supermarkets and grocery stores. The average price for a double pack of the toilet paper is £1.15, and this comes in a variety of colours such as white, pink and peach. The toilet paper is also available in larger-sized packs, such as a four pack, and these too are readily available.
I can only award the loo roll top marks as I do feel it is a high quality product. I cannot deduct a star for the more expensive price tag because I feel the extra pennies are justified in this case. A top quality paper, in my humble opinion --- it's really superb!
Summary: A fab toilet paper!
