Advantages: Soft, strong and long

Disadvantages: Price

I bought this while it was on offer in tesco with 50p off (was only 5p more expensive than tescos own brand). I bought the 9roll pack considering it was much better value than the 4 roll, and obviously I will continue to need it, and it isn't going to spoil any time soon...

Andrex comes in a big plastic packet, similar to any other toilet roll. It usually has a picture of a puppy on the front (reminiscent of the adverts and one of my favourite additions to any toilet related product ever. Who doesn't love a puppy?) and uses colors such as soft blue or lilac with it's bold logo spread across the front. Inside the bag are the rolls, stacked/packed together. Each roll is quite dense, but of a standard size and in the middle is the expected cardboard tube.

I have found this brand of loo roll actuall does live up to its claims of being soft, strong and long. It is much softer than own brand, even the more expensive packs, which is always a nice feeling - especially considering as a poor student, I have been living off pretty cheap sketchy loo roll... It's very strong, you don't need to use many sheets to get effective use unlike cheaper brands which go to pieces at any sign of adversity. And each roll does seem to last me much longer than any other brand would. This is all positive as using less means even though the initial cost may be more, I have to buy less of it, and thus I am no worse off in the purse department.

However, I feel I should mention price. Considering you can get acceptable loo roll from supermarkets, it makes no sense for Andrex to charge premium pricing for a small increase in quality. Let's face it, there is very little contact between you and your loo roll, and thus the extra quality isn't really worth the double in cost. Fortunately however, there appear to be a large amount of deals placed on toilet roll.

Overall, it does live up to it's advertising campaign, it is soft and it does last me longer than many other brands, but you have to first be able to look past the initial outlay of money.

Summary: Soft, strong and long (but costly?)
