Andrex Toilet Tissue
Advantages: quality, long lasting, durable
Disadvantages: not as nice as the Shea Butter variety
Andrex is a range of toilet tissue/toilet rolls. As well as standard toilet tissue, there are other varieties available including Shea Butter, Quilts and Aloe Vera. The Andrex brand is promoted by a gorgeous puppy who is, of course, known as the Andrex puppy! You can collect Puppy Points for goodies!
For the purpose of this review, I will be discussing the Andrex 'Classic White' toilet tissue which is available in a pack of 4, 12 or 18 rolls depending on where you buy them from. The 4 roll pack is presented in a light blue wrapper and the that gorgeous puppy is on the front.
Each toilet roll is made of mixed paper from responsible sources. Each toilet roll is 2ply and there is approx 241 sheets per roll. According to the plastic wrapper, each sheet measures 124 x 104mm and the average roll length is 29.88m.
~Price and Availability~
The Classic White variety of toilet tissue is available from most supermarkets including Asda and Tesco. It can often be bought from your local shop too. Our 4pk cost £1.99 from the local Premier Shop. This is the average price when not on offer in Asda and Tesco. If you wish to bulk buy, expect to pay around £5.00 for a 12pk (41p per roll) and £7.00 for an 18pk (38p per roll) from Asda.
Okay, I understand that toilet tissue or loo roll as I call it, just gets used then flushed but I do find cheaper brands to be false economy as you often need to use more per use than the more expensive brands. I favour Andrex over other brands and usually buy when reduced in the supermarket. I forgot to buy toilet tissue with my weekly shop a few weeks ago and sent my fiance to our local corner shop to pick up a packet. I was pleased to see that this 4pk wasn't any more expensive than Asda.
I usually buy the Andrex Shea Butter but the local shop didn't stock this so my fiance picked up the Classic White pack. Each roll of toilet tissue is plump and thick. The tissue is pure white and appears to be of a high quality. This colour of toilet roll is perfectly suited to any colour of bathroom if you are colour co-ordinated with this type of product!
You do get a decent amount of toilet tissue for your money and I find this toilet tissue to be of an excellent quality. I won't go into details about my families toilet habits but toilet tissue is a must in any household so we will say no more. Unlike cheaper brands, the end of this toilet roll is easily detatched from the roll. The paper isn't the thickest and is a little see through but it is suprisingly strong and easy to handle. It isn't as thick or luxurious as my preferred Shea Butter toilet tissue.
In use, this toilet tissue performs perfectly well. It tears easily from the roll without ripping to shreds. Only a few sheets are needed per use depending on the toilet circumstance. The toilet tissue feels light and incredibly soft. I do not like the feeling of paper in general but I do find this less of a hassle and less 'awful' to handle. The different layers of tissue are attatched well. This toilet tissue is nicely absorbant and feels durable when in use. It is kind to skin and simply glides across both the daisy and the bum (hehe) without causing any irritation. It cleans well and flushes perfectly fine. I find this toilet tissue to be nice and gentle when dealing with a cold and have yet to experience any irriation from using this around my nose area.
Overall, Andrex Classic White is of a decent quality and performs very well when it comes to toilet tasks. I find that one roll lasts quite a while even with three of us using it. It lasts much longer than cheaper toilet tissue and is much more pleasant to use in my opinion. I do prefer the Shea Butter variety as it is a little thicker and smells nice whereas this toilet tissue doesn't carry a specific smell.
I will buy again if I cannot obtain a pack of Shea Butter and can recommend this toilet tissue. It is suitable for my whole family to use and has proven to be dependable and durable when in use. It is very much worth paying that little extra for as the quality is better and the roll is longer lasting.
Thanks for reading :)
Summary: pay more for Andrex!
