Advantages: Smell is lush, like that freshness smell, small and easy to use, no mess.

Disadvantages: You cannot put too much in machine and you will need 2 for heavily soiled washing.

I woke up one morning and my boyfriend said to me:
“Oh, I’ve got you a half price Ariel Liqui-Tabs voucher coming through the post.”
That was nice of him to think of ME when he spotted the offer (she thinks sarcastically).
He spotted the offer on Open, part of our interactive TV via Sky Digital. Apparently he couldn’t sleep, so while I was snoring away, he spotted the offer.

The voucher took about a week to arrive, so I placed it in my bag and took it shopping with me. Down the soap powder aisle, I looked for this new offering from Proctor & Gamble. There they were, only 2 boxes on the shelf. I grabbed one quickly in case an army of voucher holding shoppers came storming down the aisle.

So what is this new product?
It’s a laundry washing liquid in a little sachet called Ariel Essential Liqui-Tabs. A box contains 12 sachets, divided into 3 plastic trays, each containing 4 sachets. Each sachet contains 50ml of green liquid. This is supposed to be enough for one normal load, so if your sums are as good as mine, you will get 12 washes from one box.
A box costs £3.38 (Tesco’s), and my first box was half price, so it was worth a try.

The test.
I put my normal load in the machine and placed the plastic sachet on top of the washing. Shut the door and started the program. After a while my kitchen starting smelling of...freshness. That’s the only word that comes to mind - the freshness smell of newly dried washing off the line, if you know what I mean.
When the load was finished, the wet washing smelt as good as the aroma in my kitchen. Fresh.
As it has been decent weather lately, I hung it outside to dry, still smelling that nice freshness smell as I hung it out.
When it was dry, the washing STILL had that smell to it. If people were watching me smell the clothes while I was taking it off the line they may have thought I was some kind of lunatic...or wors
e!

So were the clothes clean?
Yes and no. Yes if I placed a normal load in, and no if I tried to squeeze that extra towel in. One load did not get the Tikka Masala sauce properly off of my tea-towel. But it does recommend 2 sachets for heavily soiled clothes. The whites were great though.

Any questions?
I wondered what happened to the plastic that the liquid was in. Well, apparently it is made of a special water-soluble film, designed to dissolve quickly and completely. I have to say that it did because there was no sign of any plastic in either my machine or attached to the washing.
I also wondered if the 50ml of liquid was enough, but each sachet contains a specially concentrated formula, containing all the ingredients you need for a normal wash.
So what ingredients are those then? All the box will tell me is that it contains Enzymes; Brightening Agents.
What temperature are they suitable for? It says 30 - 95 degrees.
Can I wash anything? Nope, not suitable for wool or silk. Well I washed some machine washable woollens at 40 degrees and they came out fine.
So am I going to use them again? While they are still available on the shelf at Tesco’s, yes. And providing the price does not suddenly rocket, yes, I am happy to an extent, but I wouldn’t fight off the voucher holding shoppers to get a box.
