Advantages: Nice clean clothes, Easy to use, No need to measure
Disadvantages: They don't always melt completely and they leave a sticky goo on some of your clothes
I got a pack of these on special at Safeway last week, the offer is over now and I've thrown away the leaflet so I can't tell you how much they were but according to another op they're meant to be £3.69.
You get 12 in the box and you only have to use one at a time unless you have really dirty laundry or hard water so even at full price this is not that bad.
I took them home to give them a try and first time (I put on a load at 8 because this is the wash my machine says to use for liquid on a just worn once load) they clean okay but I had one item of clothing with gook on it that I had to wash again.
Second wash fine no mess (this one I put in at 7 and I thought fine it just needed a longer wash).
Third wash (again at 7) I opened the door to find the clear film sticking to the rubber seal round the inside of the door, it didn't seem to have melted at all.
Fourth wash I thought right okay this stuff obviously needs a longer wash to melt the outside completely so I put it on at 4. Out came lots of nice clean washing and a pair of trousers with gook on them.
Fifth wash I half filled the machine and stuck it back on at 4, it's still running so I can't be sure what the results are yet.
I'll let you know later.
I've never had this happen with any other washing powder or liquid and I've been doing washing for 20 odd years so it's not me, in case anyone wondered. Time to try the persil spaceships I reckon.
I'm fed up now cos it's so easy to use these things and I really wanted them to work.
Okay the wash finished and it was okay, I've done a couple of others since then and as long as you only half fill the machine they seem to leave no gook. Unfortunately this ends up costing more money cos you have to do more washes.
So if you want them to completely melt in the wash go for small loads!!!
