Advantages: A light floral fragrance

Disadvantages: Won't cover the whiffs forever... you still need to find the source of the smell!

This 300ml canister air freshener retails at 58p and is one of a group of air fresheners in the cottonflower and waterlily fragranced range, which also includes a gel freshener and plug-in style air freshener (please see my other reviews of these) and a scented candle room freshener.

The spray comes in a sky blue canister with a picture of lilac waterlilies and white cotton flowers at the base and the product title 'ASDA Cottonflower & Waterlily Air Freshener' at the top. On the reverse of the canister are various text boxes containing information about the product, including information relating to keeping it away from pets, children, furniture and sources of ignition (no smoking!). There is also a warning that intentional inhalation can be harmful or fatal (personally I reckon you'd sneeze to death if you considered inhaling this stuff at close range).

Considering there is a warning about keeping the canister away from children ( and therefore a recognition of potential danger) I am a little disappointed that there is no child safety feature within the canister design. There is no lid to cover the spray button, nor a slider button (as found on some canister deodorants) to close the outlet and prevent little fingers from spraying the contents. The spray outlet is positioned at the top of the canister rather than at the front further increasing the possibility that a curious child (with a careless parent) might spray the contents into their eyes.

The scent of this air freshener is floral as opposed to pine-like or fruity. It is quite strong to begin with so best not to spray in an enclosed space if you have to remain in the room. However, the fragrance quickly disperses leaving a pleasant floral bouquet odour. The fragrance lasts for 20 minutes or so, generally long enough to cover any temporary nasty whiff until the pong naturally disperses. If you want a more permanent solution to a room odour problem however, you either need to invest in a plug-in air freshener or sensor style room spray.... Or do some housework!

Summary: A good air freshener at a good price that won't leave you choking.
