Advantages: None. There are better alternatives at the same price.

Disadvantages: Takes alot of liquid to clean the dishes and has a very weak fragrance.

I use a lot of washing up liquid as I don't just use it for washing dishes, I also use it, mixed with bleach in very hot water, for general purpose cleaning. Because I use it on many surfaces in the house (including kitchen and bathroom surfaces as well as my bathroom tiled floors and walls) it's particularly important for me that the liquid smells nice as well as cleans effectively.

As a cost cutting exercise (yet another one) I've recently started trying shops own brands of washing up liquids and this Lime and Cucumber washing up liquid from Asda was a recent purchase.

I brought this as it was on a 2 500ml bottle for £1 offer, but one bottle can be also be bought for 70p. Other fragrances can be purchased in the 2 for £1 offer, including lemon, 'original', and pink grapefruit, but I bought two of the lime and cucumber fragrance as I wanted to combine them with standard bleach and thought this fragrance would balance the swimming pool fragrance best!

I have been disappointed with this washing up liquid. I've found I have to use much more of this liquid to get a real foam going on in my washing up bowl, so it hasn't worked out as cost effective compared to the leading brand which I find foams much more effectively from less liquid. That's not to say that the leading brand is far superior to shops own liquids because it isn't. I have found other non-branded washing up liquids to work just as well, it just seems to be this lime and cucumber washing up liquid that under performs. My water is not particularly hard, but I have found it difficult to achieve the level of foam I expect from a washing up liquid, and even when I have used 4 or 5 squirts of the stuff the foam just does not last throughout the bowl load of dishes.

As for cleaning with this liquid, it manages fairly well on most surfaces and can clean through the grease on my hob with a bit of coaxing. The fragrance, however, is too subtle to make the kitchen smell nice, and it is completely over-whelmed by even the tiniest spot of bleach.

Summary: I won't be buying this fragrance again.

Just to add, my other half is an industrial chemist and would soon stop me if I was mixing anything in a harmful way. Nevertheless, I don't recommend that anyone else mixes washing up liquid and bleach!

Only on the advice of flylady (see previous review!). I dilute the mixture very well in very hot water and never mix neat detergent with neat bleach. I like my lungs!
