Advantages: Cheaper than leading brands
Disadvantages: Wish they made it in bigger bottles
INTRODUCTION
With 5 in our house (two adults and three children) I do on average 8-10 loads of washing a week. I was using a leading brand of washing powder but over the last 2-3 years the price just keeps on increasing. (To the point that at todays date (summer 2011) every wash with Fairy will cost you around 28p in washing liquid alone!) This is when I decided to try a shops own brand.
THE PRODUCT
The washing gel (630ml/ 18 washes) comes in a white plastic (widely recyclable) bottle with a blue dosing cap. Underneath the dosing cap there is a clip on lid) There is a label on the front and the back of the bottle with instructions/ directions for use, product safety instructions, care instructions, warnings and disposal advice.
The liquid is bright blue in colour.
THE COST
The approximate price of the product is £2.49 but are usually on offer two for £4.00. If you buy on offer this makes each wash just 11p (therefore saving 17p per wash on a leading brand).
HOW TO USE IT
You use the dosing cap inside the top of the washing (therefore keeping your dosing drawer clean!). Fill according to the instructions on the pack depending on washing load and laundry soiling. Close the door and turn on. This gel liquid is suitable for 15 degrees or higher. I tend to use it mainly on 30 degree washes but sometimes on 40 or 60 degrees and occasionally 90 degrees.
FRAGRANCE/ SENSITIVITY
I only use non bio liquid because it is dermatologically tested for sensitivity and have no problems at all with my childrens skin. The fragrance is a fresh but mild fragrance so it isn't overpowering like some washing gels.
PERFORMANCE
I have to say I have noticed no difference in the performance of this product to a leading brand one. I do tend to use slightly more liquid if I have a full load or the washing is heavily soiled. As it is a gel rather than powder it seems to disperse and foam far quicker in the wash. The performance is very good getting the clothes clean and smelling fresh.
OVERALL
Highly recommended. A cheaper alternative that really doesn't mean cutting performance! Well done Asda.
Thanks for reading!
