Asda Shades Best Ever Toilet Roll
Advantages: Good price, soft, strong, absorbent
Disadvantages: None for me
When it comes to toilet rolls I always used to buy one of the leading brands because they were softer and stronger but recently I have had to economise on all sorts of things and this is one of them.
I am equally likely to shop at Asda or Tesco and so would buy a large pack of their own brand toilet rolls when needed - sometimes Asda sometimes Tesco but never the very cheapest brand as that stuff is seriously scratchy on the posterior!
I didn't really think any more about it than that. The toilet rolls were soft enough and did the job that they were supposed to do. That was until a couple of weeks ago when I put out a new toilet roll and, boy, did I notice a difference! The one before had been Asda and the new one was Tesco and it was decidedly less soft. The difference was really noticeable! In fact we have just finished the Tesco pack and I have put a new Asda one in the bathroom this morning and again the difference was marked. In fact that is the whole reason for me writing this review.
The price in Tesco for a pack containing 18 rolls is currently £7.69 making the toilet rolls just over 42.7p each. In Asda the price of a pack of 24 toilet rolls is currently £8 making each roll just over 33.3p each so the Asda ones win on price. Obviously in each case the larger the pack that you buy the better the price per roll.
In Asda their own brand toilet rolls are called Shades Best Ever and are available in white, cream, peach and aqua in our local store although there may be other colours available in different parts of the country. They also do Quilted, Aloe Vera, Shea Butter and Scented within the Shades range.
The Shades Best ever are marketed as being 'softer, thicker and more absorbent than the leading brand'. Having used these rolls on numerous occasions I can only agree with this. As I said earlier in this review they are definitely softer than the equivalent Tesco version and to be honest I think they are easily as soft as any of the named brands that I used to buy. They are also strong enough to do the job without ripping or splitting - I don't think I need to go into details here do I?
Apparently these rolls are also easy start so you don't waste the first few sheets - to be fair I never did waste any sheets anyway but I suppose it is nicer to be able to get at the start of the roll more easily.
The rolls last as long as any other rolls that we have used so it isn't false economy to buy these. They are soft on my nether regions and I am also happy to use a sheet or two to blow my nose if I happen to be in the bathroom at the time. They are soft enough to do this and don't cause any irritation on my delicate litt. If that isn't a recommendation I don't know what is!le nose!
Seriously there isn't really much more to say about a toilet roll other than the fact that I would recommend these rolls to anyone and I will never be buying any other from now on
Summary: The only one I would buy these days
