Advantages: Good packaging - Work well - Reasonable value..

Disadvantages: May not suit certain bathroom fittings..

I have tried out several different brands of 'moist' toilet paper in the past and have found all of them to be quite good and very convenient to use. When I was shopping in a local branch of Asda recently, I noticed their own-branded moist toilet tissue wipes and decided to give them a try out.

I believe the product has received a bit of a 'face-lift' in recent times and it now no longer looks like the picture provided at the top of the Dooyoo page. Instead, the packaging is mainly white in colour, irrespective of which of the two varieties of Moist Toilet Tissues are purchased. Whilst I am on the subject, it may be worth mentioning that the two varieties of wipes available are either a "Fragranced" option or the option that I purchased, namely the "Sensitive, Fragrance Free" wipes.

Both varieties of wipes are the same price which is only 79 pence for the pack containing 40 wipes. I thought this price offered excellent value for money, especially compared to more premium brands that cost around £1 more than the Asda offering, even though their package contains around the same quantity. As an example, the "Velvet" brand sells a package of similar moist toilet tissue that contains 42 wipes and the cost for this in Asda at the present time is £1.88. (Info correct as @ September 2012).

The package of Asda Shades Moist Toilet Tissues that I purchased are packaged in a similar way to most face wipe products that I purchase regularly, being supplied in a plastic 'pouch' in a slightly oblong shape. The plastic is more robust than that of most face wipes I suppose, but you get the idea. There is a square 'opening' on the front of the packet that is made of thicker plastic and this has a recloseable lid that gives a slight 'click' when closed over.

This 'close-able' design has proven to be excellent, and is far superior to other brands of moist toilet tissue that I purchase regularly that have only a sticker 'seal' to act as a closure. I find this sticky label often loses some of its adhesive and thus the seal often does not work properly after the pack has been opened for a while, allowing the moist wipes within to become dried out and fairly useless. This huge gripe of mine has been suitably quietened whilst using the Asda Shades Moist Tissues, so full marks from me on that score.

When it came to using the wipes themselves, the first thing that struck me was how thick the wipes themselves seemed to be, particularly when compared to other supermarket-own branded moist toilet tissue products that are often thin and rip easily. The Asda Shades variety in comparison, seemed to be of a fairly high quality and did not have the same thin, flimsy texture that similar products often have. I have never experienced any problems with the wipes tearing or ripping when removing them from the pack.

Furthermore, the quality of the Asda Shades Moist Tissues seemed to be so good that I felt they were quite a bit softer than other brands I had tried out before, and were certainly of a similar quality to more 'premium' brands such as the Andrex Moist Wipes. I found the Asda Tissues certainly seemed to have a much more luxurious feel to them than most supermarket own-branded offerings and felt lovely and soft when being used, with no unpleasant 'scratchy' feeling being present.

The size of the Asda Shades Tissues is on a par with most other brands that I buy regularly and they do not feel small or overly 'neat' when they are being used.

With the variety of the Asda Tissues I have being the "Sensitive" variety, these are of course fragrance free and so there is no noticeable aroma present when removing one of the wipes from the plastic packaging or during use. This is my preference, as I do find that some varieties of moist toilet tissue that I have bought in the past have had an over-powering perfume smell to them which I don't particularly like, so this fragrance free option was much more pleasant in my opinion. This gave the impression of these particular Moist Tissues being slightly more gentle than other brands that often contain strong fragrances and I was impressed to note too that the Asda Tissues are "Enriched with moisturising balm and shea butter." I cannot admit to noticing any such additions when the Tissues are being used but I do feel slightly reassured to know such measures have been taken.

I liked too that the Asda Moist Tissues didn't feel overly 'wet' when using them against my skin, nor did they feel sloppy or at all harsh. There was nothing uncomfortable about using the wipes at all, and I felt they left me feeling fresh and clean without any unpleasant side-effects.

There are a couple of warnings provided on the packaging for the product, such as the fact that only one wipe should be flushed at a time, presumably to prevent any damage to your toilet fittings. Similarly, there is a warning that the wipes cannot be used with certain toilet fittings.

Overall, I though the wipes were of a fairly high quality, certainly being superior to other supermarket-own branded wipes that I have purchased in the past that have ripped easily and have been supplied in flimsy, rather useless packaging. I felt the Asda Shades Moist Toilet Tissue Wipes in comparison, offered a good alternative, being supplied in excellent packaging that offers an airtight seal to protect the product's moistness and this, coupled with the excellent quality of the wipes themselves has lead me to repurchase them for use in my household already. I find them hygienic and refreshing and have no complaints at all and thus, the product comes with my full recommendation together will full marks in the product rating score.

Summary: I recommend them..!
