Before we moved into the place that we lived in now, I had a great little dishwasher that was more than happy to work on my bowls and plates until they came up sparkling and clean. Unfortunately I had to leave her behind when we agreed to rent this house as she just wouldn't fit into the small but workable kitchen. I was gutted and so was she but we cried (she cried more than me!) but we just had to move on! During our brief time together I would help her in her work by buying these Asda Smartprice Dishwasher tablets. I loved them, she loved them and my hubby loved them! We all loved them and I will tell you why.

For a start the tablets were a lot cheaper than any other tablets on the shelf. At the time they were costing around £1.50 but they are now £1.72 for 30 tablets. I have to say that before I bought my trusted dishwasher, I didn't think about how much I would pay out for the tablets and there was no way in hell I was about to buy the name brands because they upped my shopping bill by around a tenner a month.

Secondly the tablets are affective in doing the job. I'd put one into the little compartment, press the button and when the cycle was over I'd be hit with the warm steam, a fresh clean smell and the dishes would be as clean as the day I bought them. My mother in law is one of those people that tends to make more work for herself and one of the things she does is rinses all of her dishes before they go in the dishwasher so they are basically clean before they go in. I am not so efficient; my dishes were always caked in food but even my big lasagna dish that had crispy bit's around the edge would come up sparkling.

The only thing about these tablets that I do wonder is how they would treat the dishes over a long period of time. I wonder if the glasses would get scratched? I did use them for well over a year though and had absolutely no problems.


For those of you that like descriptions, then the tablets are pretty much the same as any other basic dish washer tablet in that they are rectangular and the top is blue whilst the bottom is white. They are packaged individually and I always think they look a little like sweets. Each talet will last you one wash so if you only put your washer on once a day then you will get a months worth of washes out of one box which I think is amazing for that price!

I can't recommend these tablets highly enough especially if you are trying to save a bit of money. They really are brilliant and if I was ever reunited with my dishwasher again then I wouldn't hesitate to go back to buying them.
