Asda Smart Price Dishwasher Tablets
Advantages: Cheap and clean ok
Disadvantages: Struggle with stubborn marks, don't leave much in the way of shine
We have a dishwasher at home, which is used regularly but not every night as I don't tend to get a full load on a nightly basis. As it is only used now and again, I don't want to spend a fortune on dishwasher tablets so go for whatever is cheapest at the time of purchasing.
I regularly shop in Tesco's, but sometimes I will shop in our local Asda which has opened in the last few months to get a few different items. When shopping in Tesco's I have their Tesco Value tablets, so I purchased the same quality ones in Asda - the Asda Smartprice Dishwasher Tablets.
Within the box you get 30 tablets and the box costs just 1.80, which is excellent value for money when you compare it to a better branded product such as Finish, where you can pay at least twice the price for the same amount of tablets.
Each tablet is individually wrapped in its own cellophane wrapper which keeps the tablet together and prevents mess in the box. These tablets are quite grainy and do break apart easily so I simply open the top of the wrapper and tip the contents into the tablet holder in the dishwasher. This prevents any mess or spillage of the grains.
I do just a bog standard basic wash when washing my kitchen ware and I have to say, these stand up to the test well. I found that the plates, mugs etc were completely clean and free of any dirt and grease etc and the only trouble I did find is that they did struggle a little with a couple of items I put in the dishwasher that had been stood for a while such as baking trays etc, where the food/grease was quite moulded to the tray. It removed food/grease traces easily of items that had only been used, but it didn't really lift ground in marks very easily and definitely seemed to struggle with more stubborn marks.
I suppose this is the kind of quality you should expect though when you are paying such a low price for a product. The end results are never going to be as good as a brand such as Finish which are so much more expensive. These don't leave any streaks or marks behind but they also don't leave your items looking really shiny either. They are clean, but have a slight dullness to them, which when you compare them to the Finish adverts, which claim to clean and shine your kitchenware, you may want a little more from your tablets.
Overall, for the amount of use I get from my dishwasher, these are perfectly fine. Although they are of the same quality as the Tesco Value ones, they don't seem quite as good as I have never really found any problems with the Value ones but these struggled a little on harsher products.
These aren't bad tablets at all, but they aren't fantastic either so if you want a cheap product that does the job ok, then these may be for you, but if you want something that's a little better quality, then you may want to spend those few extra pennies for something a little better. All in all these are good, but not great.
Summary: Ok, but not great
