Asda Smartprice Rubber Gloves
Advantages: Very cheap, good quality
Disadvantages: not the thickest ones available
When it comes to cleaning, the majority of the time I will wear rubber gloves. I have dry skin and eczema, and having my hands in water, or using harsh chemicals will cause flare ups. Eczema is awful at the best of times, but on your hands it's a nightmare as you're constantly using them and so it doesn't always get a chance to heal, which is why rubber gloves are an essential product for me.
I've used many brands over the years, but quite frankly I find them all pretty much the same. I used to always buy Lidl's own brand gloves, but since I mainly shop in ASDA now, I have switched to the ASDA smart price version.
The gloves come in a pack of two, and are packaged in a plastic bag. One minor problem with the Smart Price gloves over other brands, is that they only come in one size, which is medium. In the past I have always bought small as I have particularly small hands, and have found in the past medium sized gloves can feel a little bit loose. Whilst I would still prefer that they made these in a smaller size, in fairness, the gloves aren't too bad on me size-wise, they're certainly not so big they slip off, but they're still just slightly roomier than I would like.
The gloves are pretty much like any others. Yellow in colour, they have a textured surface to the palms, which aid grip, especially useful, I find when I'm washing up. They do have that awful powdery feeling to the inside when you first put them on, and they will leave a horrible rubber smell on your hands, however I unfortunately find that most brands will do this.
These are a budget product and not made from the thickest rubber in the world, however I wouldn't really expect that for the price. I do find the gloves durable though, I've never had them split on me, and although I rinse them after use as stated on the pack, I only really throw one pair away when they begin to look particularly grubby.
At just 47p for a pack of two from ASDA, I think these have got to be some of the cheapest household gloves on the market. Considering that the next brand up, the ASDA's own brand cost £1.01 for one pair, and Marigold's are £1.60 for one pair, then these really are a bargain.
On the whole I am very pleased with these gloves. At less than 25p a pair, you really can't go wrong, and the only gripe I have with the product is that they only come in one size. I will continue to buy these gloves and I would definitely recommend them - especially if you're on a budget.
