Advantages: Relatively soft and cheap.

Disadvantages: Not as soft as Andrex

I like to buy my toilet tissue in bulk because we seem to go through it at an alarming rate for some reason. I was picking up a 24 roll of Asda Shades but I got sick of the price creeping up each month so I decided to go on a quest for a cheaper but better toilet roll.

I tried quite a few of the cheaper toilet tissues including Wilkinsons which tore my arse to shreds and the amount of time I ended up with 'chocolate' on my fingers was unreal. For some bizarre reason I didn't think to try Asda Smartprice ones until I got a bit desperate and I have stuck with them as they are actually very good.

With this particular pack you get 12 rolls of 2 ply tissue which contain 200 sheets per roll. The surface of the paper is a bit smaller than the more expensive rolls but at £1.17 for 12, you can't really complain. The toilet roll itself is white in colour but does turn a bit grey when the moisture hits it.

It is pretty good at not breaking when you use it which is a good thing because I had enough of 'chocolate finger' whilst using the Wilkinsons brand. I would say that it has the same resistence as the Asda Shades which is the only toilet roll that I can compare it too as I've never used Andrex (apart from at my mum's house!).

I was really surprised at how soft this toilet roll was considering it is only a cheap version. Obviously you can't be expecting Andrex softness here and if you are then I wouldn't advise you to buy this or you may be bitterly disapointed. It is definately not the worse I have experienced and it doesn't feel like you are using A4 paper after you've been to the toilet. I have had a cold recently and it didn't cut my nose to shreds either so it can't be too bad as I must have wiped my nose about a thousand times in the space of an hour at one point!

Although the surface of these toilet rolls are less than the ones I used to use, I don't find that we go through these any quicker. They last around the same time.

When I was trying to find some information and a picture for this loo roll so I could put in a suggestion for Dooyoo, I came across this website that was about how recyclable certain toilet rolls were. I scanned the list for this type and it was right up on top being one of the best toilet rolls as far as recycling goes. Another bonus in using this loo roll!

Over all I would definately recommend these toilet rolls if you begrudge paying too much for things that you literally just flush away!

Summary: A good cheap toilet roll
