Advantages: Cheap and does the job it's designed for

Disadvantages: None

I've only recently started buying Smart Price loo roll, after buying recycled toilet roll for long time, but in this day and age, saving the planet has to come second to saving money I'm afraid.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Smart Price toilet roll, I expected it to be far rougher than it was, I'd been imagining that horrible waxy stuff that you use to get at school, that was like wiping your bum on a sheet of A4, ouch!

This toilet roll isn't like that at all. I'm not going to try and say it's anywhere near as soft as the likes of Triple Velvet, but then I don't think anyone would be daft enough to assume it was but it's certainly soft enough to do the job.

The rolls are smaller than your average roll from any of the brand names, and even from the Asda's own toilet roll.

The specifications are; 2 rolls 2-ply tissue. 200 sheets per roll. Sheet size 120mm x 98mm.

compared to Triple Velvet which is; 3-ply tissue. Average 200 sheets per roll. Sheet size 120mm x 109mm.

So its only 11mm narrower, and to be perfectly honest when you're using it you wouldn't notice the difference in size.

But does it work as well as the branded version? Well yes it does, I guess work isn't quite the right word for a toilet roll, but it definitely does what it's supposed to do. I won't bore you with my illnesses, suffice it to say I have an IBD (bowel disease, not to be confused with IBS) so I probably use more loo roll than the average person. And I've never found this product to be wanting.

It seems to last us about the same amount of time, in fact when I initially bought it I got the four pack (just in case it was rubbish) and it lasted the entire week between shopping trips, just the same as the other loo rolls did.
