Asda Thick Lemon Bleach
Advantages: It's cheap, ok for keeping toilet bowl clean
Disadvantages: Awful bleach smell, no hint of lemon, doesn't froth, difficult to aim
**Product and Pricing**
This bleach was from Asda (obviously), and I chose it because it looked good value compared to the alternatives. A 1.125 litre bottle currently costs 90p if bought individually, and Asda currently have an offer where you can buy two bottles for £1.50 which makes it good value.
Asda claim that this product kills 99.9% of germs, and provides daily defence as it kills various germs such as MRSA, E Coli, Salmonella and Listeria. It claims to give 24 hours protection once used. It has a child safety cap which you have to press in to release the lid, and is supposedly lemon scented.
The bleach can be used neat for toilets, sinks and drains, and can also be diluted on surfaces for a less harsh clean. It is recommended that you test a small inconspicuous area if you are using bleach on surfaces, just in case it stains or strips the coating. Personally, I only tend to use bleach for cleaning toilets, as I find it a bit harsh to use elsewhere.
This bleach was a bit of a let down for me to be honest. Firstly, I was expecting a lovely fresh lemon scent, but instead it just smells of bleach. I tend to choose scented bleaches as it's a bit more pleasant than that awful chemical smell you get from pure bleach, but I honestly couldn't detect a single hint of lemon from this.
The bleach is advertised as being "thick", and it does coat the toilet bowl well, but I found it quite difficult to aim it anywhere except for the bowl. I think because it's quite a big bottle, it's a little heavy to turn up and aim towards the rim, so I didn't feel like I was getting the aim I wanted.
In terms of cleaning, it did as good a job as most bleaches. The bowl is clean without any nasty colouring. However, I was disappointed by the fact the bleach doesn't froth very well, and once you've flushed there's no sign of it apart from a few bubbles on top of the water.
Overall, I was disappointed with this bleach, and probably wouldn't bother buying it again, however good value it seems.
