Asda Waxfill Candle
Disadvantages: Not very fragranced at all, plain looking
When it comes to scented tealights and candles and things like that I'm a real an of them in my home. I love to burn Yankee Candle wax tarts over tealights in little burners but sometimes I like the glow of larger candles and though I won't lie and say that I buy Yankee Candles cos more often than not I don't, make do with the wax tarts and feel that they are better value or money.
So when I spotted this candle in Asda costing only £1.50 in a turquoise colour (to go in my turquoise dining room!) I decided to give it a try!
The packaging of this is simply the candle itself in a see-through, strong and robust glass tumbler with a sticker on the side of it telling us that it is Asda Waxfill on the side and then on the base of the tumbler we are told how to use it, cautions and warnings are listed and contact details for Asda are given. Simple packaging this is, the label from the side peels off with real ease leaving no marks or sticky residue behind itself and all we are told to do before lighting it is to trim the wick a little. Please note that no fragrance is stated or size on these and the only other colour I spotted this in to purchase was a dark berry coloured one.
The Candle Itself:
This looks very basic but good value for £1.50. Although described as a small waxill candle on the Asda website, this isn't all that small to me and is basically the same size as half sized tumblers I own already and is almost full to the brim of the rich turquoise coloured wax with a long wick to the centre of it stuckk firm in. I didn't trim my wick as I didn't know I needed to and I've had no issues with that at all.
I have no idea of burning time but so ar I have had mine lit about 10 hours in total and still have half of it left however although it offers value for money in the size stakes for me this doesn't contain any fragrance. If I sniff it up close and when it isn't lit it does have a very slight 'seafresh' aroma to it which is really pleasant but barely there but when lit, even after burning it for ages no fragrance really comes through at all!
The issue with this that I have is that if I burn it for a while a black soot does appear on the inside sides of the glass though it does wipe off and I'm pretty sure that if you find a way of getting rid of all the wax from inside of it you could use it as a spare glass too!
Boring looking and too plain really for me, gives off a nice flickering glow in a room but no fragrance so all in all one to avoid really me thinks!
Only available from Asda stores.
Summary: Not for me this one it isn't smelly enough!
