I don't usually get excited about cleaning products but there are a few exceptions. I have granite work surfaces in my kitchen and have found that the surface can look dull and smeared. However I have recently discovered a product that is easy to use and gives a great shine with minimal effort. The product in question is marble and granite clean and polish and is part of the Astonish cleaning range of products.

I first came across this wonder cleaner in my local Waitrose. For some reason they had lots of cleaning products greatly reduced with the Astonish granite and marble cleaner being reduced from an expensive £1.89 to just 75p for a 500 ml bottle. At this price I was more than happy to buy a few bottles and give them a try. Astonish marble and granite cleaner comes in a black plastic bottle. The flip top lid is easy to open.

The instructions state that you should only clean one small area of the surface at a time as the product should not be allowed to dry. To clean you need to squeeze a small amount of the product onto the surface and wipe in circular movements. There is no need to rinse off, just buff up with kitchen towel. The cleaner is a fairly thick white substance. It doesn't really have any recognisable smell, although I can detect a slight hint of metal.

I am very impressed with this cleaner and really pleased I bough 2 bottles! At first the cleaner seems like it will leave a greasy residue on the surface but with minimal effort on my part the cleaner is soon rubbed in. I actually enjoy the buffing up bit as the shine that appears is truly amazing! My granite surface has a hint of blue and the cleaner brings this out like new. I also have a granite splash back behind my range cooker and the cleaner removes all signs of grease, leaving a lovely shine.

The only negative I can think of is that the cleaner doesn't have any real scent. I would have liked a hint of something lemon! My 500ml bottle has so far lasted for about a month and I use it every day. The bottle is still about half full, so that's good value in my book!
