Advantages: Lovely aroma - Easy to use - Helps to 'mask' odours..
Disadvantages: Doesn't last as long as I'd like..
I work part time as an Avon Representative when my poor health allows, and this means that I have great access to the assorted ranges available from the Avon Company.
One range that I really quite like is the "Avon Naturals Range" which has a selection of freshly-fragranced shower gels and room sprays amongst their range of body lotions and other products. I do quite like the Room & Linen sprays within the range and have tried out several of them in the past.
The most recent spray product that I have been using is the "Avon Naturals Raspberry & Hibiscus Room & Linen Spray" and this review outlines my experiences of using the product.
The range of Room & Linen Sprays currently contains perhaps six or so assorted fragrances to choose from, most of which have some sort of fruit-based scent contained within. I admit I find this range to be very appealing, as such scents are among my favourites.
The Naturals Room & Linen Sprays are usually priced around the £4 mark, which I think is reasonable value but not the best, especially considering the rather neat size of the 125ml bottles. With this in mind, I'd definitely recommend waiting to purchase the sprays as part of one of the promotional offers that are often running in the Avon brochures, or online at their website at www.avonshop.co.uk. Indeed, I managed to obtain two sprays from the range for around £3.50 recently, so quite a considerable saving can be made from Avon's assortment of offers and deals.
The Avon sprays are rather 'dual purpose' in their design, as they are suitable for use to freshen up either a room or items of linen. I personally seldom use them to freshen up linen as I don't really feel the need, except perhaps when on holiday if I happen to have one of the sprays with me. In terms of using the spray in the room however, I find the Avon Naturals Room & Linen sprays offer something a little different to other scented sprays that I have used before.
Importantly for me, I find the scents and aromas of the sprays are usually MUCH nicer than shop-bought air fresheners that can feel quite 'false' and often carry a sort of 'chemical' scent in their tone. The Avon sprays in comparison, feel much 'lighter' when used, and more 'natural' almost, which is why I much prefer using them. The Raspberry spray was one that I was looking forward to trying out, particularly as I adore fruity, berry-type scents and anything fruit-based is sure to be a hit with me.
In terms of the product's packaging, I have to confess that there is nothing particularly eye-catching, or even remotely appealing, about this aspect of the spray. Comprising of a clear plastic bottle that has a very slim, thin look to it, there is a pump dispenser on top, to allow you to spray the product easily. I have found no issues with using the spray dispenser itself, or with removing the little plastic 'cap' on the bottle, even though I have limited mobility and issues with the strength in my hands. There is nothing cumbersome or fiddly about using this product at all. There is an attractive label on the front of the bottle that does go some way to adding a little splash of colour to the otherwise plain-looking bottle, thanks to the bright red/pink Raspberries shown here. A smaller image of a flower is located at the bottom of the label which is presumably the Hibiscus. The way that these images have been presented gave the impression that the main scent in the spray would be the fruity raspberry, with a mere accent of hibiscus contained within.
This impression turned out to be exactly spot on, and to my delight the Raspberry scent is most definitely the strongest fragrance in the spray's aroma. To be honest, I have really only found the hibiscus scent to be evident once the product is sprayed initially, where it hangs delicately in the air alongside the sweet, juicy scent of raspberry. The hibiscus scent is quite delicate, without it ever feeling heady or over-powering. After a short while, I find I am able to detect this element of the overall fragrance less and less, until it finally disperses completely, leaving only the fruity raspberry scent behind.
This aspect of the product is very pleasant too, and I do confess to preferring it to the 'mixed' scent of the hibiscus and raspberry combined. Whilst the raspberry scent is quite sweet, I don't find it becomes sickly in its essence, although I will admit it teeters rather close to doing so. I do find that many 'berry' fragrances can become quite sweet so this is perhaps to be expected from such scents. I find the rich fruity scent feels rather uplifting too, which has made it a pleasant scent to experience around my home during the cold, dark winter days we have been experiencing lately. I find too that the scent is without that horrible 'synthetic' feel to it that so many fruit-scented products contain these days. I find this to be horribly off-putting, so I was glad to discover that no such annoyance was evident from the Avon Naturals spray.
I would assume that the result would be the same if the product were to be sprayed onto linen, but I cannot clarify this as I have not tried this for myself. What I CAN confirm however, is that any time I have used the Avon Room & Linen sprays on linen or laundry, they have caused nothing in the way of staining or discolouration, which would obviously render the product rather useless.
I tend to use the spray all around my home, except my bedroom and kitchen. When used in the bathroom, I find it does a reasonable job at helping to 'mask' any unpleasant smells that may be lurking around after my cat's litter tray has been cleaned out...! Without going into too much detail, she is a very old girl and it is fair to say that both her bowel and her bladder have seen better days, as have the smells that escape from within. *ahem*. I find that the room spray works fairly well at helping to move such smells along...... and out the open window.
There has really only been one negative point I have found, when considering the performance overall of the Raspberry Room & Linen Spray, and that is that the lovely scent does not last long enough for my liking. After half an hour or so of spraying, I can barely detect the rich and fruity scent, which is obviously quite disappointing. I have found that alternative sprays from the same range have fared a little better in terms of their scents' longevity, so I do find the results from this version to be rather disappointing by comparison.
In saying that, however, I did really like the 'berry' fragrance to be found within this room spray and I know for a fact I will repurchase it again in the future. For these reasons, it feels somewhat unfair to remove any stars from the product rating score, as I feel quite positive about the product on the whole.
I'd recommend giving this room spray a try out, particularly if you are a fan of fruit or 'berry' type fragrances, just be prepared for the scent disappearing quite quickly!
Summary: A lovely refreshing room spray from Avon that I will buy again..
