Advantages: Smells lovely
Disadvantages: Scent doesn't last very long
Avon's Strawberry and Guava Room and Linen Spray was another one of the products that my parents had placed in the lovely red box of toiletries that they got me for Christmas. I must say that I wasn't particularly sure what I would do with the spray if I'm honest but decided that I would give it a go.
The spray comes in a relatively narrow and perfectly clear plastic bottle enabling you to see the liquid inside, which incidentally is also clear. The front of the bottle has the Avon naturals logo printed on it as well as a picture of some delicious looking strawberries. The top of the bottle has a clear plastic pump, which is covered with a lid.
The reverse of the bottle has instructions for use printed on it as well as the information that the spray is designed to 'lightly fragrance your home with the scent of strawberry and guava'. To use the spray you are directed to 'spray 2-3 times towards the centre of the room' or seeing as it is linen spray also, onto linen. The instructions then progress to tell you not to spray it into the face or onto wooden furniture.
So seeing as I had already decided to give this spray a go I stood in the centre of my bedroom which isn't particularly large I must admit and sprayed the scent three times. I was immediately hit with a really sweet and fruity aroma in which the strawberries and guava are both clearly noticeable. Unfortunately however the smell soon drifted away and in general didn't make an overall difference to the smell of the room.
To test the product further I decided to use more sprays to see if this would give a better affect. I must admit that five or six sprays did seem to do the trick in my bedroom but only for 15 minutes or so, which was a bit of a shame. Trying the spray in the bathroom, a much smaller room, didn't yield much better results either.
The next faze of my spray testing was to find out what effect it would have on linen and so using my spare bed-sheets as the test subject I directed 2 sprays towards it. Again a lovely sweet and fruity smell found it's way to my nose but I can't say I was particularly hopeful for it staying there. Five minutes later I returned to the linen and the smell was still prominent, after fifteen minutes it was still the same and after half an hour I was beginning to be a little impressed. Unfortunately after an hour the scent was extremely mild and after two had completely disappeared - rather disappointing.
On the whole therefore despite being easy to use and in a rather presentable bottle the spray doesn't really do what it should. In an ideal world the scent would have been noticeable for much longer in a room and when putting clothes into a suitcase I should have been able to add a couple of sprays of this in order to keep my clothes smelling fresh whilst travelling. Unfortunately neither of these things are possibly with the spray, which I must say on the whole rather disappointed me.
If you however feel the need to purchase it you can do so from your local Avon representative or on their website. Its price varies from time to time but is usually around the £1-£2 mark. Room and Linen spray can also be purchased in other scents from Avon such as Banana and Coconut, Black Cherry and Nutmeg and Lavender and Chamomile.
Summary: Would be great if it lasted for more than ten minutes
