Bahoma candles are hand made in London and the company usually make them as they are ordered,so the candles are fresh and retain their fragrance.
I came across this range in a small independent shop in Cornwall and fell in love with the fragrance immediately. What I didn't care for was the price which was around £25 so I left empty handed. However I did return and purchase as after leaving I worked out that this would cost 30p an hour to burn as they say the burn time is 75 hours.
I am not exactly sure whether I got 75 hours from, but it did last for ages and burnt really evenly.
I bought this in a glass jar which came boxed. The size is about 4" or 10 cm and the glass is really good quality as is the box which looks and feels expensive. They also make room sprays in this range, plus at the moment have some coloured and jewelled glass versions, which I think would make lovely presents. I would be delighted if someone bought me one.
The candle is plain and simple creamy white in a clear glass, which is to my taste as I like plain and simple holders.
The fragrance is what made me part with £25 though and I absolutely adore this scent. I don't know what fresh figs smell like as I have never bought one so I can't comment on how fig like the scent is.
However I feel this is a really woody fragrance that brings to mind fresh wet earth, but with fruity notes. It is slightly masculine and reminds me of mens aftershave, so it feels like you have sprayed the room with a really expensive exotic cologne. It is not overpowering and I would quite happily wear this as a perfume as it is so sophisticated. They do a bath range but unfortunately not in this fragrance.
It is a beautiful blend of fragranced oils and they have obviously used quality ingredients in making this. I absolutely love this scent and can't get enough of it. It smells quite unique and a completely natural smell.
Bahoma don't go overboard describing what they put in their candles but the fragrance notes are on the label of the candle and they are figs, aniseed, green leaf, cyclamen, coconut, amber, cedarwood and sandalwood.
This is a quality candle and even when this candle isn't burning you can smell this. scent Once lit it fills the room and the fragrance stays long after it is snuffed out.
The recommended burn time is 3 hours to get the optimum out of the candle so the burn pool doesn't get too big which I think causes them to burn down the middle and leaves wax at the sides. So I would recommend burning at this rate as I have found I don't waste as much of the candle as it burns more evenly.
I have looked at the burn times on the other candles I have of a similar size and their burn times are no where near 75 hours, but I don't know how they achieve twice the burn time from the same size candle. So although this is quite a small candle it burns for twice as long as most candles.
The candles sometimes appear on ebay and John Lewis stock some of the range. They are also available from Bahoma direct and when I registered I received a money off voucher , so I got mine for around £15.
Full price the candle costs £25.95 from Bahoma and can be bought on Amazon.
This is a gorgeous fragranced candle that is long lasting, burns well and will fill your home with a beautiful fragrance that lingers for hours . It also fragrances the room even when unlit.
It is a considered purchase, I bought my first one when I was on holiday, so it was a spoil yourself while on holiday type purchase. I have also justified buying another one based on the 'it's Xmas' reasoning.
I also bought some as gifts and received a free gift of sample room sprays, so I think I may be sampling more of these!
A quality product that gets 5 stars from me.
