~Cinnamon Buns~

As well as offering a range of delicious home baking essentials, Betty Crocker also produce a few different scented candles. One scent available is Cinnamon Buns. I am reviewing the small candle which has an approximate burning time of 25hours. Other scents available include Strawberry Shortcake.

The wax is presented in a round, clear glass container and has a single wick. The container has no lid but is simply presented in a partially open top cardboard box which a cinnamon bun design on it.

~Price~

Cinnamon Buns candle can be bought from Amazon priced at £1.19. It is also available in Poundworld stores throughout the UK.

~My Thoughts~

Whilst I favour Yankee Candle product, I am happy to try out cheaper candle products too. A short while ago I made a purchase of each Betty Crocker scent on offer in my local Poundworld store. I am a big fan of Betty Crocker cake mixes and the icing so hoped the quality of the candles would of a good quality.

Presentation wise, the glass container is practical and holds the brown lump of wax well. The glass isn't particularly thick and isn't visually attractive but I have had no issues with breakages or any wax leaking from the glass. The wick is easy to light using my long candle lighter and the wick is easy to trim down to avoid a high flame or smoke damage. Care should be taken to avoid any incidents and it is worth noting that the glass container becomes quite warm whilst the wick is lit.

The candle is quite wide and the wax melts neatly forming a glossy, golden pool of wax around the wick. The candle burns down fairly evenly and doesn't seem to tunnel as badly as other cheap candles which means less wastage. The scent from this candle when solid is quite subtle but the cinnamon aroma can definitely be detected. When the surface of the wax has melted, the scent starts to filter around my livingroom at a steady pace but doesn't have as much impact as a Yankee candle. I can't say I notice the scent outwith the immediate burning area.

I chose to burn this candle in my livingroom area in the evenings as I find cinnamon to be a warm, cosy scent. I was able to witness a pleasant aroma which was welcoming and warming. The cinnamon scent is no where near as prominent as most cinnamon candles I have used but comes across as being completely natural. This would suit those who like a mild cinnamon scent rather than a full on, spicy burst of scent. I find that whilst the warm, spiciness of the cinnamon is evident, it is tamed by a beautiful sweet undertone which reminds me of vanilla frosting. As you can imagine, the overall scent is very foody and carries a 'freshly baked' edge. This definitely appeals to me as I can enjoy a sweet, home baking aroma without the mess or calories!

~Conclusion~

Whilst I would appreciate a stronger level of scent from this candle, I find that for the price, it is very pleasant to use. The scent disappears quickly after the wick has been blown out but I did notice that the scent did last until the wax was almost finished. I would say 25hours is accurate though I didn't keep track. For £1.00, this is a bargain and it is definitely one of the better cheap candles available so I can recommend it. I do still prefer Yankee Candle but this is fine as a cheap alternative. It would make a good stocking filler.

Thanks for reading :)

Summary: not as good as Yankee but fantastic for a quid!
