Advantages: Good idea

Disadvantages: Can handle the tough going

I had one of these as a present and I must admit, its quite a little work horse.
If you have many jobs around that require a lot of screwing and unscrewing, then this baby is for you!
Be warned though, it likes nice easy jobs. The ones that take you ages. The ones where the screw has a long thread and you have a short time limit.
Give it a whizz and the screws are in.
Unfortunately, where it does let itself down is in torque.
If you have an awkward screw that needs some real elbow grease to get in, forget it.
Stick to the old fashioned manual ones.
It simply cannot cut the mustard when the going gets tough.
Of course its multi directional so you can screw in and out again. It also has a loc so you can use it manually.
Being versapack, you can collect the set of powertools and swap the powerpacks over. Handy if you need to charge a couple of packs up.
You may need to have a spare power source at hand as heavy duty work zaps its energy. sooner rather than later, you are out of power and suffering R.S.I. from all that wrist action on the manual drivers.
If you just need something for around the house to do those little jobs, consider this. If you only have to screw things in once a year, save your money and stop being lazy! Use a manual set!
If your job requires you to do a lot of screwing down, consider buying a manual ratchet driver. Snap-on tools make some good ones and they can be just as quick to set up as an electric one. They are also garaunteed for life to so you dont have to worry about breakage.

If you screw a lot it hasn't the power. If you don't do it enough the battery dies too. I agree with your op. For heavy duty the electric drill is the solution.
