Advantages: Saves a lot of time.
Disadvantages: Can be hard work.
This is a review about a Black & Decker wallpaper stripper, I've used & owned these, plus other models, over quite a few years, so i'm qualified to write about it.
The model being reviewed is the KX3300T which is 2300 watts, and has a 4 litre capacity. The model uses an electric heating element to make the steam. The unit is left on the floor, with the steam going up a pipe, to a pad which is held on the wall or ceiling. The older style Black & Decker (BD1200) worked as a single unit, and you supported the weight of all the water as well as the machine. With this model, the steam goes exeactly where you want it, it does cause condenation, but so would the old method. As long as the steam goes into the paper, the system works, and it works very well.
Weight is medium to heavy, I would say it's not too heavy.
The cost of this model (KX3300T) is between £25 - £30 depending where you shop.
Ease of but better after a bit of experience.
The length of the power lead is 3 metres, as with all the hose is 3.65 metres, ample for all but very high ceilings.
Compared with water & sponge I would say a lot better, the main thing though,to make sure the steam goes through the coating on the paper. If removing gloss painted paper, you will need to score through it with a knife first.
The quality of the product is quite good for home duty & it will last longer if you use distilled (demineralised) water, especially if you live in hard water areas.
Summary: A very good piece of kit.
