Advantages: none

Disadvantages: slow, awkward to use,heavy

I bought a Black & Decker wallpaper stripper a few years ago when they first came out. This is an electric stripper that gives steam through many holes on it's underside, like a lrge steamiron.

The adverts looked very good, effortless stripping of all wallpapers, having started to redecorate this would be a good buy ? Having used it you are better off sticking to the old fashioned way of water, sponge and scrapper.

The steamer needs to be frequently refilled with water, although this is fairly straightforward to do it is heavy when full. The baseplate clogs up with bits of wallpaper and glue so needs to be cleaned quite often. When it is steaming it does not seem to generate enough steam to do the job.

I've found it quicker and easier not to use this tool, it's still in the box. Stick to the old methods or get a more powerfull steamer like those for rent.
