I have been using Bold detergent for many years, I find this brand of detergents really nice smelling and good value for money. I like a detergent which is going to remove stains and help my fabrics smell nice and fresh after they have been washed.
This detergent comes in a plastic bottle and has a flip open top which is at the bottom of the bottle with this one, it can stand on the base very easily and sits well in a cupboard. It is a liquid kind of gel and is a really nice orange colour.. It has a really nice consistency and can be easily squeezed out of the bottle. The texture of the liquid is really soft and smooth too. It has an orange fragrance and is quite a fruity kind of smell, a smell I really like quite a lot. It isn't too over powering and is quite a pleasant smell. I cannot honestly smell any pomegranate fragrance but I guess there is more orange fragrance added to this one than the pomegranate.
I do find this one removes stains very well and removes any food from my little grandchildren's clothing I wash at my home. They leave lots of spare clothing items at my home for them to get changed into and more often than not food is dropped onto their clothes while they are eating. This detergent does remove the food very well and is particularly a good one for removing chocolate stains.
It cleans my white fabrics perfectly and gives them a nice white colour and I find that it is also good for my coloured clothing and doesn't fade the fabrics. Some detergents fade clothing but this one doesn't. It washes towels and bedding very well too and just leaves them looking nice and clean with a fresh orange smell to them. If you love the smell of oranges this one would be more than suitable.
It comes with a capsule which you can measure the amount you want to use, for an average wash load it is advised to half fill the capsule and then either pour it into the washing machine detergent compartment or just place it on top of the clothing in the machine. I just pour it into the compartment as it is habit when I use other products.
This is a good quality detergent and excellent value for money in my opinion. I bought a 888ml bottle for just £4 and this size bottle is designed for washing up to 24 wash loads. I would say it comes very close to this amount of wash loads from this bottle.
It claims to that the fragrance on the fabrics will last up to 12 hours, I can definitely smell it on my fabrics 12 hours later and it does have a very long lasting smell as it claims to have, which is good if you want to wash your bedding in the morning and then later in the day make up the bed again and by night time when you go to bed, the bed smells gorgeous. So it does what it claims to do for a lasting fragrance on fabrics. With some other brands this length of time doesn't happen and I cannot even smell much fragrance on the bedding. This one isn't a disappointment that's for sure.
It cleans any items around the home which need to be washed. It cleans my curtains, cushion covers and even soft toys extremely well. I have used it to hand soak some of my more delicate clothing and have just poured a small amount in a bowl of warm water and left it for a hour or so and then just rinsed the detergent from the clothing. It is easy to rinse with little effort needed.
When I take my washing from my washing machine, I can most definitely smell the orange fragrance, it smells gorgeous in my opinion and really fresh. My towels feels nice and soft and not at all rough, they are nice and fluffy and soft to the touch.
This detergent hasn't irritated my skin or that of my grandchildren who have very delicate skin, my skin is sensitive and it is more than suitable for washing my fabrics.
I am very happy with the way this one washes my fabrics and I am happy to recommend it to anyone looking for one that washes well and removes stains and food from clothing. I will keep on buying this one because it gives me all the results which I expect from a branded detergent.
The bottle can be recycled too after use.
Also appears on Ciao under my username pinky50.
I give it 5 stars.
Thank you for reading my review.
~Bold 2 in 1 Gel~
Bold is a range of laundry products including gel, liquitabs and powder detergents. Today, I will be discussing my use of the 2 in 1 gel. The 2 in 1 gel detergent is available in a few different scents including 'Crystal Rain and White Lily' and 'Lavender and Camomile'. I will be reviewed the 'Sparkling Pomegranate and Orange Blossom' scent.
Bold market this product as being a 'concentrated gel detergent for great cleaning, softness and freshness'. It can be used in temperatures as low as 15c up to 90c and is a biological detergent. Another product claim is that your clothing will be left with a 'fresh feeling' even after 3 weeks of being stored.
This gel has to be squeezed into the provided container and put straight into the drum of your washing machine. It should be placed on top of the dirty clothing. The container is marked 15ml, 25ml and 35ml to ensure you are using the correct dosage of gel per wash. It is recommended that you use 37ml for lighter loads and if you have a larger load or soiled laundry, the container should be filled to the brim with gel.
Bold 2 in 1 gel is conveniently presented in a tall, squeezy plastic bottle which is mainly white in colour. There is a narrow strip of clear plastic which runs down the side of the bottle allowing the user to see how much product they have left in the bottle. The Pomegranate and Orange Blossom gel features an orange base and flip lid and the large sticker adorning the front is bright orange with flowers on it - quite eyecatching. The dosage container is attatched to the top of the bottle and is made from white plastic with a hole in the middle where the gel is squeezed into.
The bottle can be recycled.
~Price and Availability~
This gel is available in two sizes - 592ml (16 washes) and 888ml (24 washes). It can be bought in supermarkets. Asda currently offer the larger bottle priced at £4.00 and the smaller is currently more expensive at £4.59.
Despite there only being three people in our home, I do some amount of washings! I usually buy whichever branded detergent is on offer and vary my purchases between the gels and the powders. My last two purchases have been from the Bold 2 in 1 gel. I recently finished my bottle of the Crystal Rain scent and whilst I liked it, I decided the Pomegranate and Orange Blossom would be a good choice for my next laundry purchase. I paid £4.00 for my 888ml bottle from Asda - I believe this is a new size that Bold offer.
I find Bold gels to be of a really good quality and meet my expectations. I have recently bought a new washing machine which holds 3kg more of laundry compared to my old machine. This means less washes but I do need to add a little more detergent and fabric softener to cope with the extra load. This gel suits my families needs perfectly.
The gel itself is orange and when dispensed, it is quite thick and carries a fresh and slightly soap floral scent which is quite pleasant indeed. I use a whole cap normally for each load as I like to make sure there is enough gel to fully clean every piece of laundry I put in my machine. A downside to the design of this detergent is that the plastic container makes quite a bit of noise as my washing machine is on. Our new washing machine is a super silent machine but it doesn't reduce the noise of the container one little bit!
During each wash, the gel gets right into the laundry in my machine and I can see it bubbling up through the machine door. One cap does produce a satisfying amount of bubbles in each wash. I use various settings on my machine so this gel has had a good trial with different temperatures from 20c up to 90c and has performed well with each wash. I can't say I notice any strong fragrance coming from my machine during the washing time.
Once my washing machine has finished and has spun the excess liquid out, my clothing comes out smelling fresh and clean with a delicate sweet, floral smell from the detergent. I have noticed that without fabric softener my laundry is still quite soft but I prefer to use an additional softener. This detergent performs very well when it comes to actually cleaning clothes. Whilst it doesn't eliminate deep stains, it does leave my clothing very clean and fresh. It works excellently on bedding and towels as well as my families clothing. We aren't an overly dirty family (even my toddler is a clean boy) but this gel copes with every day muck and light food stains. It also keeps white clothing white and bright clothing bright - no fading or discolouration here!
I normally use fabric softener alongside my detergent and find that any softener I use overtakes the scent of this detergent and increases softness. As a family who have sensitive skin, we have not experienced any irritation despite this being a biological detergent so I pleased with that. When my laundry is freshly dried, I am happy with how fresh it smells (with or without addition softener). It is very rare for clothing to be stored for 3 weeks in our home but when I alternate bed sheets, my freshly washed and dried bed sheets are put in the wardrobe for the next use. I can confirm they smell fresh and clean when I have came to use them too.
Overall this gel has fufilled its claims. It is expensive when you compare it to the offers that supermarkets run on powders but I am happy to buy it when it is reduced in price. I find that because I need to use more for my larger machine, my bottle won't last the full 24 washes but this isn't a major issue. I like the gels as they do not seem to clog up my machine as much as powder does.
Recommended - thanks for reading :)
I started buying Bold 2in1 when it was on special offer in the supermarket and I'm hooked now.
-Appearance and Smell
The washing liquid comes in a bright and attractive bottle wgith the opening at the bottom which is geat as it means every last drop can be squeezed out of the bottle. There are several different scents avaiilable, the pomegranite and orange being my absolute favourite. It smells diving - light and refreshing and can be smelt on the clothes a couple of days later, without being overpowering. I want to have a quick sniff every time I walk past the washing line, it's so lovely.
-Cleans and Softens
Probably the most important thing is that it actually works. It washes clothes efficiently and doesn't leave them stiff as a board afterwards. The fact that that the conditioner is included within the washing liquid is not only conveniant for both usage and storage, but it also works out cheaper than buying washing powder and fabric conditioner separately. If it can be purchased as a special offer, as it often can, then it's even better value.
-A Little Goes a Long Way
The average 1 litre bottle gives an average of about 28 washes, according to the bottle. It is supplied with a dosage capsule and advises you to fill it up halfway or to the top depending on the water in your area. Either way, a lot of this is not required to give good results. The capsule is either placed on top of your laundry in the washing machine or can be used in the drawer compartment if preferred. Bold 2 in 1 is also available in other forms, such as gel capsules and tablets; all easy and conveniant to use.
I use this washing liquid for myself and my children's clothes and we have never experienced any negative effects on our skin. When my youngest was a baby I could only use one type of washing powder that didn't irritate his skin so I wouln't have considered using this then. It may be a touch too harsh for sensitive skins or new babies but I have never had a problem with it since I have been using it.
When it comes to laundry products I tend to either buy whatever is cheap or on offer at the time of purchase, I have no loyalty to any particular brand nor do I have any allergies or skin sensitivity that force me to be careful about what I choose and generally make my decisions based purely on the name of the fragrance and the price. I don't like anything too floral smelling as I always mention in my Yankee candle reviews and I tend to stick to this when it comes to the laundry detergents I buy, a typical example being the Bold 2 in 1 Pomegranate and Orange blossom liquitabs, the last brand name laundry product I bought and the subject of this review.
I bought my box of Bold liquitabs when they were on special offer at Morrisons recently, at £2.00 instead of £4.00 for a box of 20 I thought they seemed good value for money from a big brand name. The fact that they were a 2 in 1 product containing detergent and fabric softener as well as claiming to give 12 hours of wear and a clean and fresh feeling whilst being fragranced with Pomegranate and Orange blossom meant that I was willing to take a chance on them. The liquitabs come packaged in a flip top plastic box which is easy to get into and are detergent-filled bags which are designed to be put in the drum of a washing machine before adding a laundry load. They're completely soluble and leave behind no residue or marks on the things they wash and are designed to be used at all water temperatures with a single liquitab being the recommended amount to use to give the best results. In their little transparent bags the detergent is a orange in colour and has a fresh, inoffensive aroma that is pleasant to the nose. Even though they do contain fabric softener as well as detergent I tend to add a little extra to the wash anyway as I like my clothes to come out of the machine feeling soft and as I have no washing line to use and am restricted to drying in a tumble dryer I like my clothes to smell nice as my dryer seems to wipe out a lot of the fragrance a fabric softener provides.
In use I find these to be effective at removing dirt and marks and although I only have my own clothes, towels and bedding to wash and never give them anything too difficult to tackle I'm always pleased with the results. I trust Bold to be a recognised and respected brand name and these do a good enough job for me to recommend them, I like the fragrance that gets added to my clothes, it's a generically 'fresh' aroma neither too floral or too artificial and although it's not very evident once my clothes have had a spin in my tumble dryer there's just enough remaining for me to notice. The claims that these provide 12 hours of clean and fresh feeling wear is negligible in my opinion but I do put this down to the intense blast of heat that my tumble dryer gives more than a fault with the product itself as I would imagine that the more gentle way of drying clothing on an outside line would preserve a lot more of the fragrance and probably make clothing feel bit fresher although again this isn't a complaint with these liquitabs from Bold.
All in all I get exactly what I want when I use these liquitabs and that's clean, fresh laundry with a nice smell and I can't ask for much more than that from a product of this nature and I'm more than happy with the end results. I can't comment on how effective they would be in use from a busy family with children or if they're subjected to ground in stains or dirt, my washing is generally made up of every-day clothes that I wear along with my bedding and towels so I never give any laundry detergent much of a challenge with what I wear. As mentioned at the start of this review I buy whatever is on offer at the time when I need to buy laundry detergent and it just so happened that these from Bold were on a half price offer at that time. I wouldn't and don't pay full price for any washing powder, liquids or tabs from any brand and whilst these from Bold are good I don't think they're any better than similar products from Persil or Daz or any of the big brand names if I'm being honest so would only buy them again if they happened to be available at a reduced price.
In conclusion then there's nothing really to complain about as far as these Bold 2 in 1 Pomegranate and Orange Blossom liquitabs is concerned but on the other hand there's nothing to get excited about either with them really. They do what they're manufactured to do and that is to leave my laundry looking and feeling fresh and clean, I'd recommend these to anyone looking for a decent laundry detergent as there's nothing wrong with them but would only buy them again when they're offered at a reduced price. £2.00 made these a great buy for me but I wouldn't spend £4.00 on them, they were good but I don't think any laundry detergent is worth paying over the odds for, not for me at least, so my 4 star rating here is fair when I take everything into consideration.
Thanks for reading my review.
Having used a number of washing liquids to try to have my clothes smelling fresh for as long as possible my wife recently decided to pick up Bold gel for us to try but did it deliver freshness for longer?
Bold gel is one of the new age of washing detergents that offers up a great cleaning solution at a lower temperature so that you are able to use less energy and so save money whilst helping to save the environment. The gel gives a great level cleaning and leaves your clothes feeling soft (your towels will remain fluffy too) whilst also giving a great freshness to your wash.
The pomegranate and orange blossom fragrance is very fresh and leaves your clothes smelling great even after your wash (some other detergents I have found to lose their fragrance after a short period of time) so that your clothes feel and smell fresh. For me this is one of the most important things when I am washing my clothes as I hate to wash clothes and straight afterwards find they smell stale but thankfully with this washing gel your clothes remain fragrant and fresh for much longer.
The bottle is simple yet clever as it has a cap on top so that you can easily measure out the right amount of gel for your wash and so not use too much and waste it. Pouring the gel is easy as you just squeeze the bottle for your gel to come out and once you stop squeezing then it will stop pouring which means you have it easy to measure but also helps with you not spilling this all over the floor or your surfaces as you can have happen with liquid or powder.
A bottle of this will last you for a number of washes (dependant on the size of bottle) and give you good value for money when compared to other gels out there (although maybe not offering the same kind of value as powder or liquid). The smaller bottles will often give better value then the larger ones so unless you can get a large bottle for £4 (as you often can) then you will be best to check for the price per 100ml to see which offers better value.
This is a good standard of detergent but does not clean as well as other gels out there at a lower temperature which is one of the major positives of using a gel.
Overall this is a good detergent that leaves your clothes feeling and smelling fresh and clean. For me this is a great detergent for the fragrant smell it leaves your clothes with and it leaves clothes fresher for longer than other detergents out there. The big let down with this product is that it does not give the greatest results when you wash at a lower temperature and so it makes for a less attractive option as you are paying more for it being a gel but still need to use the higher temperatures so it is not as cost effective. Overall I am not the biggest fan of this due to the fact it can have the problems at lower temperatures but I do love the fresh fragrance and the easy to measure out and use gel.
I was not able to get my usual washing liquid on a recent shopping trip and could not decide which one to get instead. To be honest I was swayed to this Bold gel with pomegranate and orange blossom as it was a similar use to the one I usually use and the fact it was on offer.
The liquid comes in a white plastic bottle which is shaped sort of like a tear drop. On the front we have an orange label which has the Bold logo on and the product name, on the edge of this is some pretty flowers and a claim that the freshness of this scent will last for 12 hours when wearing the clothes. On the back of the bottle we have the directions for use and the information about the washing liquid.
The base of the bottle is orange and this is what it stands up on. There is also a small flap on the very bottom which is the part where you remove the gel from. The design of this is good as it means your liquid is always ready to come out of the bottle.
On the left hand side edge of the bottle where is a clear plastic strip running the length of the bottle. This allows you to see just how much of the liquid you have left in the bottle.
It is very simple to use the washing liquid. The top corner of the bottle is to be removed and the gel squeezed into the inside of this, this is then to be placed inside the washing machine drum with the clothes and not poured into the dispenser. The amount of gel to be used will vary from different load types. For an average load of lightly soiled clothes than ¾ of a capful is enough but for more soiled clothes and a full load then the full cap full it needed. If you are using this to hand wash then only a small squeeze is needed.
I did notice how much thinner the liquid was compared to my other branded liquid and I felt it was very easy to pour too much out of the bottle due to this. As a result I must warn not to squeeze the bottle too hard or you will end up with the liquid going everywhere.
I did have high hopes for this liquid as it is a well know brand, unfortunately they were not met. I found the liquid was very simple to use, it is to be used in the exact same way as my usual brand, Ariel excel gel and I liked the look and colour of the liquid. I did notice when I poured the liquid out that there was a lovely light orange scent to it which I hoped would intensify once it met the water and clothes. Unfortunately this was not the case. I did notice I was able to slightly smell the orange scent when the clothes were in the machine washing but once they had been removed and dried it had completely gone. I don't know how they can claim to have a 12 hour lasting scent when the clothes are being worn as the scent does not even make it as far as the wardrobe. I was greatly disappointed by this.
When I took the clothes out of the washing machine I did initially think they were all clean but when I came to have a closer look I noticed that they were in fact not clean. This liquid was not even able to remove the school water based paints from the school jumpers. As a result I am now having to use a stain remover in my wash whilst I still have this liquid left.
The colours were fresh and none of them ran from this liquid but for me this is not a big point as the liquid was not good enough to clean the clothes. The clothes did feel soft after being washed in this but this is really the only main plus point.
I have not noticed any irritations to my families skin from using this, hubby has sensitive skin and it has not affected him so maybe another slight plus point for the liquid.
The washing liquid which I have comes in a bottle size of 667ml. This according to the front of the bottle lasts for 18 washes, I am in fact ion wash 16 and still have a good ¼ of the bottle left. I have not been adding extra liquid to the washing as this has no effect on the ability to remove the stains at all. You can buy this is a larger size too.
There are some warnings on the back of the bottle and these include:-
- avoid contact with eyes
- In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advise
- If swallowed seek medical advise and show this label
- Rinse and dry hands after use
- People with sensitive or damaged skin should avoid prolonged contact with the product
The washing liquid should be stored in a cool dry place and away from sunlight. The packaging is fully recyclable.
This liquid is not suitable for use on wool or silk according to the back of the bottle, I have washed woollen jumper with it and have not had any bad results from doing so. I would advise using it on these materials at your own discretion.
This liquid can be used on washes at a variety of temperatures, ranging from 15 deg. C. all the way to 95 deg. C.
~~PRICE AND AVAILABILITY~~
I was fortunate to buy my liquid on offer in Asda, I only paid £3 for the bottle and I am glad I did not pay the full price which is way over £4. I feel this is very expensive for a washing liquid that cannot even remove the smallest of marks. I suggest looking for the offers if you are still interested in trying this.
Unfortunately I am not able to recommend this washing liquid. The initial smell is good but it does not last, it is simple to use and the bottle design is pleasant. I was let down by the lack of cleaning ability and the high price tag when not on offer. I have given this 2 stars as the scent is nice. I might suggest trying this if you do not have children and only tend to have washing which needs freshening up and not a full proper wash.
Like most people, I like my washing powder to not only clean my clothes but also leave them smelling nice. It's because of this that I've begun buying Bolds range of gels, the one I'm reviewing this time is the pomegranate and orange blossom.
This comes in a squeezy bottle with a flip top lid and a measuring cup that clips on the top of the bottle. On the front is printed the first claim - "12 hours of wear, clean and fresh feeling" on the back it tells us that this gel will work between 15 and 95degrees. As this is a 2 in 1 it also contains fabric softener and so will soften your clothes too.
The directions say to use 37ml of gel for medium to soft water and on clothes with medium or light soiling or 40ml for hard water or heavy soiling. This is easy to measure out as there is a little mark in the measuring cup to mark 37ml and you simply fill up the cup to use 40ml.
I live in a hard water area and so use the whole 40ml, I have heard and do believe that I could use less then this without it effecting the results but I'm a bit paranoid when it comes to cleanliness!
Once you squeeze the gel into the cup you can immediately smell it. At first it smells chemically but the pomegranate is noticeable with just an undercurrant of the orange blossom.
One final point I should make is that the gel comes out through a one way valve and I have never experienced any leakage or mess around this valve and therefore little wastage - I say little as it can be hard to get the last bit out and since the valve is one way it's very difficult if not impossible to rinse out bottle and so there can be some wastage at the end.
As I said above I use the whole 40ml of this product in each wash, I use this much because I live in a hard water area but my clothes also go through a lot each day as I am one of two main carers for an elderly gentleman. Due to this I really need my detergent to be tough on stains but also gentle on my clothes.
I'm happy to report that this has always cleaned very well, on really tough stains I do normally use Vanish along with it. On the rare occasion I forget or have run out I do sometimes need to wash some clothes again but they always come out clean a second time and this only ever occurs on heavily stained clothes anyway.
Since this is a 2 in 1 it also includes fabric softener. Now to be honest I've never used a separate fabric softener with any of my detergents so it's hard to quantify how well this works without anything to compare it too. I can however confirm that since using this none of my clothes have felt particularly hard, uncomfortable or irritated my skin.
How effective the scent is really depends on how the clothes have been dried. The scent, when noticeable is just generally fruity. If i really had to pick I'd say that the orange was just about noticeable over the pomegranate but they both blend nicely to give an overall fruity fragrance.
If the clothes have either been line dried or placed on radiators then the scent is noticeable for at least that day before fading, in the case of drying on radiators you can also sometimes smell it just by walking by them (theres a cheap way to scent your home!) However, if the clothes have been tumble dried the scent, although still there, is barely noticeable and fades quickly after they have dried.
As with any product of this nature this comes with some warnings. These (as taken from the back of the bottle) are:
Avoid contact with eyes, do not swallow, rinse and dry hands after use and if your skin is either sensitive or damaged avoid prolonged contact.
The bottle can be recycled after use and Bold are part of sustainable cleaning. This means that the product is safe for its intended use and they have considered the environment when making this and used less chemicals and natural water.
Price, Availability And Recommendation
I bought my 667ml bottle from ASDAs for £4. They also have a 925ml bottle for £6.79. However it is widely available in supermarkets and online.
I will be buying this again and have bought it a lot before. It does need a separate stain remover or two washes for heavy stains and the scent doesn't last as long as I'd like, because of this I'm going to give it four out of five stars but it does do the job its designed to and therefore I am recommending it.
As the price of brand name washing gels & powders can be very expensive I had gotten into the habit of buying whatever was on special offer at the supermarket. Very often I would just buy the supermarket own make washing powder as I thought they all did the same thing and it wasn't worth spending a lot of money for what at the end of the day was just soap. I do like my clothes to smell nice so I would always buy separate fabric conditioner which would cost an additional £2-3 at times. Luckily I purchased this on special offer and liked it so much that I now always buy it. You can pick up a 28 wash bottle for around £4 on special offer but it's rrp is more around the £6 mark.
Bold 2 in 1 gel is your cleaning and fabric conditioner in one. The packaging is nice and simple and it comes in a squeezy bottle with an attached cup which you put the gel into and then put it in the drum with your washing. The gel is a clear orange colour and is slightly viscous but still quite runny so it comes out the bottle really easily. As it's a squeezy bottle you don't get any spillage or mess and you can control the amount you need easily. It has a lovely fresh orange scent to it. I can't really pick out the pomegranate aroma but this may be due to the orange scent masking it. It's a nice fruity orange smell which isn't sweet or sugary but it smells very clean and fresh. Your clothes are left smelling very delicately of orange after washing and I find it removes dirt from clothes very well - much better than cheaper alternatives I've tried.
The bottle will last up to 28 washes but I find it goes a bit longer as you may only need half a capful for a half load of clothes. I think it's very good value for money as you don't need a separate fabric conditioner yet you don't compensate on the feel of your clothes as they still feel soft and smooth. I do think you get a nicer feel to your clothes with a separate fabric conditioner but I find this is good enough for me and I wouldn't waste the extra money buying it.
When it comes to washing my clothes, I always like to ensure that they come out looking their best and sadly lately this was not the case. I have always been one for doing a mixed colour wash but never have I had any problems until recently when I switched washing detergent. My colours had ran and I lost a few lovely items of clothing, I also found the new liquid had drained the brightness from a lot of my clothes, so much so that I had to get rid of them as well. So by buying a cheaper liquid I had ended up losing money in clothes loss which is why I decided to ask my reliable mother for advice on which product to buy.
The product recommended to me was Bold 2 in 1 Gel, it did seem pricey at the purchase time but I did think if it works well then it is worth every penny. I think the Bold logo is very recognisable on the shelf as it is bold and it is orange on a blue background, this gel comes in a few different scents but upon smelling them all I decided to go with Sparkling Pomegranate & Orange Blossom as this seemed to have a very nice smell. This one shockingly has an orange label, hence the name and has a few floral details about the label as well as insisting on 12 hours of wear with a clean and fresh feeling.
USING THE DETERGENT
The detergent is very straightforward to use, it has a detachable top on the shape so you can take it off and it is almost like a measuring cup. You open the lid under it as it stands on its lid and then squeeze the gel into the detachable cup and when the middle section is full you tip it into your machine to wash. It states that 1 dose is a full load, and from my experience of using this, I'd definitely agree with that measurement. It says for medium or soft water to fill it up 37ml full but if it is tougher stains then to use 46ml but I just take a guess.
This gel is suitable for use at all temperatures and works very easily; it's probably even good for those not so experienced at washing clothes, e.g. students. The gel seems to get sucked in easily by the washing machine and it all gets used up. When the clothes are finished I took them out to smell and they seemed to look very clean and still have the remaining colour with no signs of fading but still looking vibrant. I switched the machine to tumble dry and it seemed to be perfect when the clothes came out, they all had a very fresh scent and a slight orange hint which is clean smelling and just what I wanted.
The product comes with the usual health warnings, keep out of reach of children, the product is irritating to eyes, avoid contact with eyes, in case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately and show this container or label. Rinse and dry hands after use. People with sensitive or damaged skin should avoid prolonged contact with the product.
If you are looking for a new laundry detergent and want something that actually works, I'd fully recommend this bold 2 in 1 gel. I've used it on all colours, materials and light stains and all garments come out looking bright and clean and smelling fresh which is everything I want from a detergent.
I purchased my 667ml bottle of this 2 in 1 gel at Tesco for £4.73 but I got a bonus 50 points on my Clubcard just for buying this which made me happy. I did just go on Tesco's website and apparently they are selling this for £3 this week so the offer must have changed but it's brilliant for £3.
If you want more information on Bold and this particular product you can go to http://www.uk.pg.com/ and find Bold under their products and brands heading.
When I first saw this item in the supermarket I was a bit sceptical. The label on the bottle claims that this product will leave you clothes feeling fresh for 12 hours after using it. It also claims that you can get 18 washes out it. I was shopping on a budget and there was a good offer on this product, so I bought two of them. The good thing about this product is that you can control how much liquid you use as it comes with a measuring cup which you can fill up to the level you desire. I chose to fill it up to the brim as I was sceptical that it could was the clothes effectively with any less. The lid doesn't have a lid and so I thought that the liquid may not be equally distributed around the clothes and that it may get too diluted and run out of the machine. So I was surprised at the results. All of the clothes were well cleaned and were lightly fragranced with its lovely scent. I bought this bottle three weeks ago and it has one more wash left in it. Most products in the same price range only wash up to 12 washes, so for 18 washes you are getting good value for money. It's easy to use, effective and good value.
I was sent a sample of this and a coupon for some money off. I usually buy the cheaper brands of washing powder as I don't tend to find much difference in the quality. However, if I get sent a free sample of a voucher, I am always willing to give something new a good try before deciding.
When I tried the free sample I was pleasantly surprised. The washing came out smelling lovely, like orange, but with a hint of a tropical fruit as well. I used it first to wash some coloured clothing and was very impressed. The clothes came out lovely and clean, but more than that, when I wore clothes that had been in that wash, even days after when they had been sitting in wardrobes and drawers, I could still smell the fragrance, so much as that I didn't wear any perfume that day.
Having been so impressed, I decided to use the voucher they had sent for a pound off my next purchase. I brought bottle that should do around 10 wash loads.
After using this for about 5 washes I started to notice that there were some stringy bits on some parts of the washing. I thought it may be the washing machine, but then when I washed some bedding on a cool wash, I found that the gel had not diluted at all and wash stuck where I had first put it. I had re-wash the bedding and start all over again.
The same thing happened again when doing a cool wash, which leads me to believe that perhaps this gel is great for hot washes, but doesn't seem to dilute in a cool wash.
Overall I thought this gel was pretty good, the smell is gorgeous and if you do a lot of hot wash loads they're great, but if like me you do a lot of cooler wash loads and don't want all different bottles hanging around, then perhaps steer clear.
Bold has always been my Mum's washing detergent of choice and for that reason it reminds me of home. I am not usually a loyal brand purchaser and tend to buy whichever laundry detergent is on offer at the time of my weekly shop. However, I have recently returned to using Bold as it has a fresh clean fragrance and leaves my family's clothes soft and clean.
Bold 2-1 Gel is a concentrated biological laundry gel (Bold don't sell Non-Biological detergents). Bold comes in a variety of detergents: Gels, liquid tabs, powder tablets, washing powder and concentrated liquid. Bold contains fabric conditioner therefore is more expensive than other Gels on the market. Bold 2in1 Gel costs around £4.60 for a 667ml bottle, which is around £1.50 more expensive than other detergents such as Ariel Excel Gel. In a 667ml bottle you will get 18 washes if you use the recommended dose of 37ml per wash.
Bold 2in1 Gel is packaged the same as other branded Concentrated Gels. The packaging is plastic, so its' easily recyclable and the bottle is White with Orange labelling. There is a clear plastic measuring cap with the bottle to make sure that you use the correct amount of detergent depending on the softness of your water. The dosing device is placed in the washing machine drum and not meant to be used in the detergent drawer. For heavily soiled clothes it's recommended you use 46ml of Gel.
I have been using the Sparkling Pomegranate and Orange Blossom. At the moment the only Bold Gel varieties on sale are: Lavender (which I find the scent is too strong) and the Bold Infusions range. The Gel is Orange in Colour and doesn't live up to it's name. I was expecting the Gel to be 'bold' and bright, but to be honest it is quite dull in colour and not at all 'sparkling'. Also it neither smells of Orange or Pomegranate, it's hard to explain what it smells of! As expected the Gel is very thick in consistency.
Since using Bold Gel I have been happy with the results. Bold cleans well and leaves clothes with a pleasant fragrance, which isn't overpowering but does last a few days. Even though my Son is 19 months old I still put a Muslin cloth around him when he's eating as his food goes everywhere. The Muslin cloths are what I use to determine the cleaning power of a detergent! If the detergent can clean up Spaghetti Bolognese stains or caked on Weetabix and porridge then it passes my stringent test. Bold cleans perfectly well and removes stains, therefore I may possibly start being loyal to the bold brand.
Another advantage for me is that Bold doesn't flare up my Son's eczema, which is a great relief. Even though it is a biological detergent and contains fabric conditioner it seems mild enough to use on sensitive skins.
As much as I like Bold there are a couple of disadvantages. Even though Bold does contain fabric conditioner I often add a softener to each wash, for that extra softness. Unfortunately I can't find a softener which matches the variety of Bold Gel that I use, so end up using Orange and Pomegranate Bold 2-1 Gel with Blue Lenor! It would be nice if Bold sold fabric conditioners in addition to their laundry detergents. The other disadvantage would have to be the price. It is more costly than other detergents on the market, however as Bold contains fabric conditioner it is expected. Lastly, after regular use something which I have noticed is that you get a build up of residue on the inside of the door and it's seal, even when using the recommended dosage. All you need to do is to wash the door regularly, but this is something that has never happend with other laundry detergents.

Bold 2 in 1 gel is pleasantly smelling although not very strong and albeit its one of the cheapest gels on the market which has its advantages I dont recommend this product.
I bought bold after running out of ariel gel one day and the difference was astonishing. After using a normal wash on my clothes I took them out and noticed an orange marking throughout. Unsure of what it was I checked it with my fingers and the scent and realised it was the bold gel that hadnt dissolved enough within the water and simply left a residue all over my white clothes.
I had to re wash the clothes without any detergent to get the residue off and eventually it was fine, however I dont expect to have to wash my clothes twice to get rid of the soap.
A cheaper alternative to ariel gel, but ariel is the only gel on the market that literally does what it says on the packaging.
Bold lacks in scent and leaves a residue
