You can tell I have been in housework mode over the last few weeks, as here comes yet another cleaning product review.
You can buy Bold 2 in 1 in powder, tablet, pouring liquid or liquid capsule form. I am reviewing the powder. There are also 4 different fragrances you can choose from, which are Purple - Lavender & Camomile (which I will be reviewing and is known as soothe), Green - Apple Blossom & Lime Zest (invigorate), Blue - Refreshing Water & Spa Minerals (refresh) and Red - Crushed Silk and Jasmine (indulge).
I generally buy the 30 wash size box, but if I am feeling flush then it is the mammoth 80 wash box. Last night at Asda, the 30 wash box (around 3kg) was on special for £4. Even when not on offer, it is on a par based on cost per wash with it's competitors. I tend to get more than the recommended number of washes as I sometimes just want to freshen things up rather than give them a deep clean so use less powder on those occasions. On the box, there are also recommended amounts to use depending on the water in your area, and also for pre washes. Even on something that was badly stained, I have just used Ace laundry bleach and the normal amount of powder for good results. The smaller boxes come with an easy to use aluminium spout on the side for ease of use, but with the larger box I tend to use a small plastic cup to dispense the powder into the machine. Although you can order a dosing device for the liquid or a measuring jug for the powder completely free of charge from http://bold2in1.com/en_UK/laundry_dosing_order.htm or by calling 0800 0852 592. The website is quite informative and has laundry tips and FAQ's.
It is called Bold 2 in 1, as there is a built in fabric softener, therefore making a separate fabric conditioner unnecessary. If you look closely, you can see product is made up of mainly white powder but with a fleck of blue powder mixed in, with the white being the detergent and the blue being the fabric softener. The test for me, is whether it would work at a low temperature, and I pleased to report that it does. My daughter's grubby school shirts were gleaming after coming out of a 30 degree wash using Bold 2 in 1. My towels feel very soft when they are dry which is an indication how well the fabric softener is working. I would go as far to say that I did not get such good reults when I used a separate fabric conditioner. Also, I have the added benefit of not having to clean out the drawer on the washing machine each week with the goo left from the fabric conditioner. My newest towels also have remained as absorbent as when I first used them, so a big tick from me for the fabric conditioner. Whilst the clothes are washing there is a faint scent in the area of the machine, and when the clothes are washed they also carry a hint of the scent of the product. It is such a fresh smell, and for me, getting into bed with freshly laundered bedding feels so lovely.
My eldest daughter has excema, and generally anything with lavender affects her skin really badly. However with Bold, either there is no lavender or the camomile offsets this and soothes so much that in over a year of using it she has had no adverse reaction. It is meant to have a calming effect on your senses, and I love when our bedding is washed in this fragrance. I would highly recommend this product and especially this fragrance for clean, nicely fragranced clothes and laundry.
Summary: Do away with the separate conditioner
