Advantages: cleans clothes
Disadvantages: you do need a separate softener
When it comes to laundry products I have no loyalty at all, simply picking up whatever is on special offer. Bold is a brand which I have managed to avoid up until now but I decided to try the sparkling pomegranate and orange blossom powder when it was on offer for £2 for a box which contains enough powder for 10 washes.
Bold claims that you do not need a separate softener when you use their washing powder which is potentially a big money saver. I'm a huge softy when it comes to my clothes and love the softness and smell which fabric softener gives my washing.
When used as per instructions I found that Bold 2 in 1 cleaned my clothes just as well as any other brand of powder. It got rid of all the everyday muck and grime just as I would have expected leaving no dirty marks behind. It also got rid of some of the more difficult stains like tomato sauce with ease which was really impressive.
I found that Bold 2 in 1 left my whites looking nice and bright, sometimes they can look a bit dull if you don't use a decent powder but no problems like that here. I wear a lot of black clothes and I found that after only a few washes using Bold 2 in 1 I thought I could see some visible fading on a couple of black items which would put me off using it again.
I did not find that Bold 2 in 1 lived up to its claims of softening your washing. I found that it left things like jeans and towels a lot stiffer and harder than if I had used a separate softener. Not only do I hate stiff towels but this meant it took longer for me to iron items after I had used Bold 2 in 1. The pomegranate and orange blossom does leave your clothes smelling lovely, it is a lovely fresh smell which is both a mix of fruity and floral and the smell lingers for a couple of days after you wash but the smell alone is not enough to make me want to buy it again.
Overall a poor performance from Bold 2 in 1, it cleans but possibly causes fading and you do need a separate fabric softener despite what they say so not one I will be buying again.
Summary: Not impressed by Bold 2 in 1

- 27/10/09 I love Bold. You do need to use softener with it though but the smell of your clothes is lovely. |

- 27/10/09 I so agree with you - I tend to find myself adding half a cup of softener with this to avoid the "cardboard effect" on jeans - LOL! |
