Bold 2 in1 Rose Blush and Peony Gel
Advantages: Scent, cleans well, softens
I love washing products (I know, I worry about me too!) I think there's nothing better than when its clean bedcover day and you get in and the sheets are crisp and you get a lovely scent from either your powder/gel or fabric conditioner. Therefore when there are good offers on I do get a little excited!
I hadn't tried the Bold 2 in 1 range before but recently Ocado were offering a choice of washing gels or capsules plus a fabric softener for just £4. RRP was well over £6 for a combination of these two products so I didn't hesitate to pop some in my basket. My favourite colour is pink and I love floral scents so there wasn't much question that I would pick the rose blush and peony scent.
The bottle tells me that it is Bold 2 in 1 and it has a touch of Lenor freshness. It has 16 'doses' in the bottle. The point of a 2 in 1 is that you don't need additional fabric softener as this promises detergent, softness and freshness all in one.
The bottle has a rounded shape and is white with a large pink sticker on. The sticker displays a large Bold logo and there is detaling of butterflies and flowers.
Although the top of the bottle looks like it could be a cap, it is infact a sort of measuring cup for the gel. The flip lid is actually at the bottom of the bottle and is a nice pale gold colour. The bottle holds 592ml and although opaque, it has a clear line down the side to allow you to see how much you have left.
To use the product is really simple, you simply pop off the top, squeeze the gel into it until you reach the line (there are 2 lines, the first marks 37ml for medium or soft water with normal or light dirt whilst the second is 46ml for hard water and the toughest stains). You then pop the cup into your washing machine on top of your washing and your all set.
I like the way of using this as it is really simple. The cup is handy as it ensures that you are using the correct amount each time and popping it on top of your washing prevents clogged up detergent draws!
The gel is a lovely pink colour. Its not a bright pink but it is definitely pink and is a beautiful shade. The scent is detectable as soon as you pop the cap off and this is pleasant. You can smell a floral smell but it is not too strong, instead it smells quite fresh and similar to the scent of a garden on an early spring morning. The scent is a clean scent and if you really sniff then you can detect a soapy smell but this isn't artificial smelling like some can be. I would definitely say you can smell the roses and peony and they provide a fresh spring scent.
As the washing is well, washing I find that the home gets a subtle aroma in the air which smells nice and fresh and clean. When the washing is finished the cup comes out spotless with no gel bits or anything left over so you can pop it straight back on the top of the bottle ready for the next time.
The wet washing holds the scent and I do find it provides a nice aroma in the room it is drying on. This scent is very subtle but I do think it gives a fresh burst to the air.
The gel is suitable for use from a 15 degree wash right up until 95 degrees! The lowest I have used it with is a 30 degree wash and the highest is an 80 degree wash. Both temperatures provide great results. On a 30 wash it does a great job of your everyday washing that may have the odd mark but generally just needs freshening up. I have used the gel in an 80 degree wash on my white bedcovers as these can quickly fade over time. I have found it to have brilliant cleaning power here and my bedcovers are still a brilliant white.
As this is a 2 in 1 product you aren't required to use any extra fabric conditioner. I have used some occasionally and have found that as my conditioner is also a floral scent it simply reinforces the aroma. However, a fabric conditioner is really not necessary with this product as it leaves my clothes feeling incredibly soft and with a subtle floral scent.
I really like this product and will definitely be buying it again. Primarily I love the scent and the soft clothes I am left with but it also cleans very well too. Of course, it won't remove the toughest of stains but regular-heavy marks will be removed with ease.
I would definitely recommend this range. It is longlasting, leaves clothes clean, smelling fresh and very soft and comfortable. Well worth a try.
