“ Brand: Bombay Duck / Type: Sewing Equipment - Pin Cushion „
A friend thoughtfully bought me the Bombay Duck Cherry Cupcake Pin Cushion for Christmas as a surprise and I was really pleased as I didn't have a pin cushion in my sewing kit and had been using a rubbish sponge on a box of pins when I was mid project.
I exclaimed in delight when I opened the present as it really was such a surprise and so cute. She laughed and said she thought of me as I like making cupcakes and do a bit of sewing too so it was idea.
How it works
Well, a pincushion is a pincushion but basically you can stick your pins in anywhere on the body of the cupcake. I use pins with a pearl head so they stand out and are easy to grasp. If I am sticking a needle in to the pin cushion, I leave a bit of thread in it so it is easy to remove. A needle could work its way in and never be seen again if not careful.
The actual size of this pincushion is true to life if you think of a large cupcake, that is around the same size. Approximately 10 centimetres tall from base to top. It is around 6 cm in width.
Price and availability
I sneaked a look on Amazon and for £10.49 you too can own the Bombay Duck Cherry Cupcake Pin Cushion!
I have to be careful with my one year old not to leave this pin cushion within reach as it does look like a toy and I would hate her to get hold of it. I tend not to leave pins in it when I am not mid project as they can sit in their jar instead until they are in use. I love the colours on the cupcake and think it has been really well made. It's going to last me a lifetime!
This is a lovely gift to receive and it shows thought and care. The pin cushion is fun and functional and adds a cheery touch to your sewing basket. It is priced as quite premium as far as pin cushions go but the Bombay Duck brand can often be seen in top department stores like John Lewis so I wouldn't expect to pick this up much cheaper.
